May 23 were going to sail on The Manitou or The Traverse City Tall Ship. When we got there we found out we couldn't go on the ship because it was rocking up and down and side to side. So instead we went to Suttons Bay and went in the building. We rotated around to different stations. First everyone did weather tests. My group was put with Instructor Linda Garver. We called our group "Group Hydro". It was about 55 degrees Fahrenheit and I learned how to turn that into Celsius numbers. First you subtract 30 from your Fahrenheit number, then divide that by 2. I got 12 & 1/2. Then our group went to the fish station. Chloe and I got to catch them. The next station we went to was the Benthos station. We had to stick our fingers in the mud. It was a little gritty. Then we went to the water chemistry. That was my favorite. We did three more stations after that: the plankton station, the invasive species station, and the Great Lakes station. By the time we finished and went to the gift shop, I was HUNGRY!!! We ate lunch on the bus. Even though we didn’t get to ride the ship, it was fun. ~Eleanor

On Thursday May 23 my class went on a field trip. We were supposed to go on a boat in the water but the boat was rocking too much. So we learned about fish and water. I wish we could of went on a boat. It was still fun though!

Yesterday we were supposed to go on the Manitou but it was too wavy. So we went to Suttons Bay. We did all the stuff we would of done. ~Justin

The tall ship was a fun trip. We didn't get to go out on the water because the water was to ruff. The ship was big what we saw of it. We had to go in a bill den for a couple hours. We had FUN!!! ~Cody H.

Our class took a really fun felled trip to the tall ship even though it got pushed inside. We learned about water and how it’s important to are environment. I learned about new ways to save energy.  ~Emma

The field trip was fun. One of the bad parts was that we could not go on the ship but we still had a good time. We learned a lot about plankton. One of the things we learned was that plankton make up 80 percent of the air we breathe. This field trip was very fun. ~Dalron

I went to the tall ship. We could not go on the ship because of the high waves. It was still fun though.

On Thursday we went to the Manitou. It was in Traverse City. When we go there it was too rough. So we didn’t get to go. Instead we went to a center. We did different activities. It was very cool even though we didn’t get to go on the boat.  ~Hanna

When we got to the ship the boat was rocking back and forth. So we could not go cause of the winds. Then the people told us we had to go to Sutton's Bay. We got to do every thing the same but inside. The only things we didn't get to do where pull the anchor up and put up the sails. ~Ella

I was so happy that we my class and I were going to go on a ship. First we were going to go on the Manitou and then we had to go on the Inland Seas instead because it was too wavy.  We got to identify fish and then we got to dig through sediment and find benthos we also got to find out the weather  and find plankton. The field trip was so much fun. ~Colleen

On Thursday we went to Traverse City to go on the Manitou sail boat. It was cold, rainy, and windy. Because of the wind we couldn't go on the ship. So we went in a building and did what we would have done on the ship. It was interesting/ ~Travis R.

0n Thursday May 23, we went to the inland seas education center in Suttons Bay. We went on a boat called the Manitou. We learned about sediment and plankton mostly. We also learned about evasive species that are bad to the great lakes. It was a lot of fun looking at plankton through a microscope. it was a lot of fun and I hope to go again soon. ~Gabriel

We went on a field trip to the tall ships. We couldn't ride the ship, but we were able to go to an Inland Seas Research Center. We learned about plankton, fish, and other stuff. I wish I could go again! ~Jackson G.
