This year I ran a 5K race. The girl behind me is my mom. This is my second 5K race. I finished the race in 27 minutes and 12 seconds. It was fun. I passed people a lot older than me. I came in second place in my age group. Overall I placed in 127th. We turned around at the well an got a drink there. The race was a lot of fun. ~Ben A.

    We raised 2,200 this year for Portager Go Pink. We were going to walk around town but it was raining. So we walked the new gym. This was the second year we did it. We walked around the gym 7 or 8 times. I led everybody around the gym. Two people came and watched us walk around the gym. last year we did not raise as much. The gym and the track were full of poeple. We made the sign with everybody. It was fun walking around the gym. ~by Maggie   

Hat Day

This year on September 20th, Onekama School had a hat day.  They did it for Spirit Week. This is me wearing my dad’s Onekama coach hat. It was for coaching football. On the back the hat says Coach Johnson.  Onekama had a spirit week for homecoming. The hat was a little big on me. My dad’s hat was itchy.  At recess the hat fell off a lot. I liked hat day because we could wear hats that day to school. I had a great time on hat day. ~Ben J.
 

     For Halloween 2011 Amanda, DeeAnn, and I were class royalty. DeeAnn is on the left I'm in the middle and, Amanda is on the right. DeeAnn was an evil princess and Amanda was an evil queen and I was a spider queen. First we ate lunch then we had the Halloween party. We hung donuts from the ceiling but I could hardly reach mine! After the Halloween party Amanda and I went trick or treating. Amanda put on tons of make-up! My grandmas friend gave me two dollars! I had a lot of candy when we were done! I can't wait until next year! ~Sylvia

      For pajama day I wore miss matched pajamas. I was kinda surprised to see Mckenna had the same pj’s as my, I was wearing the bottom’s of that set for pj’s day. DeeAnn was wearing monkey footys. Everybody had some cool pj’s. Mckenna was wearing the set to my bottom’s. Since it was Monday, my class got to go to library in our PJ's. We got to were are pj’s because the second week of school was spirit week Monday was pajama day, Tuesday was hat day, Wednesday was inside out day, Thursday was sport day, and Friday of course was BLUE AND GOLD DAY!!!! Spirit week was was the best week ever. I really hope we have another spirit week this year. ~by Jodi

 

For Halloween I was a scarecrow. The costume came with a plastic machete. I won second place for scariest costume. Colin, the guy next to me won first. At the Halloween party the class played played a game where you had to guess how many candy corn where in the jar. I guessed 175, and won! So I got a jar of 180 candy corn. Me and Colin played board games, and ate candy. We also watched a movie. The Halloween party  was very fun for me. Even if I didn’t get first for scariest costume. ~by Nolan

 

Mrs. Brown's class was big this year. It was fun that day. We had cookies. We also had a big asembley. The asembley was big. It was also fun. The cookies we ate were really big. We were all crazy. Trent was the only person who didn't go completely crazy. The first day was fun. I think we should do that every Friday. ~by Gauge

 

This year for Halloween I was a doctor. My Dad put a tire gauge in my pocket and told me to call it a proctometer. I even had a mask and a weird hat. I had lots of apple cider and apples too. My Mom brought cheese and crackers. I thought it was a good party! It had scary music playing. I thought my Dad’s idea was cool! I got lots of candy at Halloween. I won a Halloween bag at the pumpkin contest. It was a great Halloween party!  ~by Jarrett

This year for Halloween we had a party. It was very fun. I was the Grim Reaper and Nolan was a scarecrow. I got first place for the scariest costume. We played all sorts of games. We all went to the office and got a apple. At the party we had lot of contests. One was how much candy corn was in the jar Nolan won it. He got the candy corn. It was a fun party.  ~by Colin

        At the Halloween party I played twister with Trent and Carson. I won that time but it was not easy. It was left hand red, left foot red, right hand green, right foot yellow. I was in camouflage. The spinner was Kyle. I thought he was just saying them. I was cold outside the grass was wet. It was a nice day. The Halloween party was Friday. We started it after lunch. I had a lot of fun that day.

For Halloween we had an awesome Halloween party. We played games like twister and Chloe brought in guess who. We had A donut eating contest I had to use a chair cause they were hanging from the ceiling. I brought in brownies for food we also had apple cider and other foods. I had like 20 donuts and three glasses of apple cider. There were also lots of other foods like chips, grapes, cookies, and cake. My friend Carson was a hobo. My favorite part was all the good food. That was one of my friend Eric Calderon last days at Onekama for the year. That was one of my favorite parties I have ever gone to.

For Halloween 2011at Onekama Schools I was a pirate. I thought of first to be a devil, but then I changed to a pirate. I found the costume at Goodwill and the white shirt. Everything else my step mom made for me. Then I went to school. After we ate lunch. We let the fun begin! We put donuts on strings and hung them from the ceiling. It was very hard for me to eat the donut so I got on top of a chair. Then After school Jodi and I went to go trick or treating! When we were almost done there was a man sitting in a chair with a reaper costume on with a bowl of candy so I said loud and clear “ trick or treat!” then after I took a a peice of candy I said “ Thanks!” Then, it was Jodi’s turn she mumbled “trick or treat” Then the man grabbed her hand and Jodi screamed! It was so fun! I can't wait for next year's Halloween!  ~ by Samantha

Hat day was one of the best days at school. I had some kind of fish thing but its eye fell off. In its eye was green stuffing we were in the middle of band when it happen. I tried to put the eye back on it only stayed there for a second. Then it fell off when band  was over. I took my hat off  and  put the  hat in my locker. I took it out when I heard that our picture were going to be taken. I ran out side to get in the picture. I found out that I was the third  person out there. I waited for about two seconds  for every one to come out side. Then we had to organize the people in the picture. It was one of the best days I ever had at school.   ~by Kyle

    A lot of people were at the Halloween party. They were wearing a Halloween costume. At the Halloween party I had a lot of fan to mummy rap Kaitlyn. All the kids were also doing it. I even eat donuts off the string. I fond whon for my little brother couldn't reach. I still had to hold it down for him. My little brother was a fire fighter. My mom and my brother had to go. It was a lot of fun.

I played on the Onekama fifth grade team. I’m on a team with Chloe and Katie my two best friends. My favorite game was agents Manistee public school. I think we played a great game. I scored 12 points, Katie scored 8 points, and Chloe scored 2 points. I made most of my points in the key. Chloe helped me a lot to get all the baskets I made. I was very scared we were not going to win. Manistee public is a hard team to beat. I had a lot of fun playing them. Thank you coaches for making it a successful season.                  This year I played football for Onekama. We rock!! We won 4 games out of six. We were good this year. Last year we won none of our games. Our coach was mike action. I’m number 2. we all had a fun time playing football.  After the games we got food from the food stand. It was really good food there!! we played for Onekama school football. The 2nd  games we won by one touchdown made by Ben Action. I love football. ~by Aric
