The Onekama second graders went to Pleasanton Valley Greenhouses April 6, 2012. They learned how you can grow the ingredients to make a pizza and that most foods we eat start as plants. There are obvious veggies in pizza but even to get the cheese, cows have to eat grass and pigs have to eat grains (pepperoni) etc. After learning how to "grow" a pizza they planted pots with three favorite plants. Mr. Mauntler will be collecting these pots in a few weeks (just in time for Mother's Day) so the children can see how their plants have changed and seeds have grown.

Meanwhile, back at Onekama School...

After visiting the greenhouse the second graders came back to the school to plant Lupines. We will be selling these in the spring to fund our trip to Ludington State Park.
