Dear First
Grade Families,
This week during shared reading we learned to read the story Pumpkin,
Pumpkin by Jeanne Titherington. We made a book about how a pumpkin
grows.
In
math this week we continued practicing how to solve addition number
stories. We learned how to write number models, we played a high roller
dice game, and we practiced solving subtraction number stories.
I
would like to apologize for not getting the theme tests graded and sent
home to you. Some things came up this week and kept me from getting them
finished. Please look for them next week.
We
had a great fieldtrip to the Onekama Fire Department. As always, Bret
Matheiu and Jeff Wisniski did an excellent job teaching our kids how to
be safe and showing them what to do in the event of a fire. You can see
pictures of our visit on our website. I would like to thank those of you
who came with us to the fire department. I appreciate the extra hands.
I
would like to thank all of you who contributed to or helped out at the
Halloween party. I appreciate the extra help. |
Our first marking period conferences will be held on Monday, Nov. 22
from 3:15-5, or Tuesday, Nov. 23 from 5-8, or Wednesday, Nov. 24 from
8-11. Please call Mary Bergren in the office to schedule a time to talk
with me about your child’s report card.
Questions to ask your child this week are the following:
1)
Can you use the
following words in a sentence? In, out, six, plant
2)
Can you tell me how
a pumpkin grows?
3)
Can you solve the
following subtraction facts? 4-2= 5-3= 6-2=
Have a happy Halloween! Enjoy the
tricks and treats!
Sincerely,
Mrs. Lyman
