Dear
Kindergarten and First Grade Families,
During shared reading time this week first graders learned to read
Listen to the Desert by Pat Mora. This story was written in Spanish
and English so it gave us the opportunity to learn some animal names in
Spanish. We wrote a class poem, completed a making words lesson, and
wrote about our favorite desert animal. Kindergarteners learned the
letters Jj, Kk, and Mm this week.
In
math this week we all learned about the analogue clock. First graders
had some review and were introduced to telling time by the half hour.
Kindergarteners learned to tell time to the hour. The first graders also
learned how to complete frames and arrows. Kindergarteners practiced
writing the numbers 6-11.
I
would like to start taking the kids to the school store. We will begin
going to the store on Friday, December 3rd. If your child
would like to purchase items from the school store they may bring some
money on Friday’s. A couple dollars is enough for your child to be able
to make a purchase. If anyone would be willing to come in on Friday
sometime to help with the store please let me know.
I
have included a December wish list. If you are able to donate any of the
items on the list I would appreciate it. I have also posted the list
online.
Many things have come home to you today. Please look over everything,
fill-out any paperwork, and return it to me as soon as you can. There
are fundraiser forms and good behavior day ski forms. |
First grade conferences will be held on Monday, Nov. 22 from 3:15-5, or
Tuesday, Nov. 23 from 5-8, or Wednesday, Nov. 24 from 8-11. Please call
Mary Bergren in the office to schedule a time to talk with me about your
child’s report card. Mr. K will be talking to Kindergarten parents. If
you are a Kindergarten parent you will also need to schedule a time for
your child’s conference.
Our
Christmas program will be on Dec. 15th at 7:00pm. I will
give you more information when it becomes available.
It
is getting very cold and we always go out to recess unless the wind
chill is negative. Please send your child to school with appropriate
clothing.
