Dear Kindergarten and First Grade Families,

During our shared reading time this week the first graders completed their third and final theme test. I will get them graded and they will come home to you next week. The kindergarteners were able to take advantage of the computer lab during the testing time.

In math this week kindergarten practiced number writing, and counting pennies and nickels. First graders learned how to complete function machine activities and they completed their unit 5 checking progress. Graded test will come home to you next week along with a letter containing information on what we will be doing throughout unit 6.

Animal research projects have been graded and came home to you today. The kids did an excellent job! The animal models are in the display case by the office. Next week Mrs. Loucks will have her class models in the case. Models will be sent home with your child next week.

We will be walking to the Onekama Public library next week Friday. If anyone is willing to come walk with us please let me know. I need one other adult to accompany us on our walk.

Our ice cream reading minutes will continue throughout next week. Please turn in your child’s minutes on Monday, March 21st and on Tuesday, March 5th. We will have our ice cream party on the 5th during our snack time in the afternoon.

We are collecting beverage tabs for the Ronald McDonald House Charity. Please bring in tabs if you have them.

We had our book exchange today. If your child donated some of their old books they were able to pick out new/used books to take home today. Next week we will learn all about leader dogs and we will meet a few leader dogs. We will also cozy in with a good mystery on Thursday and wear our pajamas.

Our spring break is March 28th through March 4th. There will be no school that week. School resumes on Tuesday, March 5th.

Please join us for Young Author’s Night on April 7th from 4:30-5:30. Your child will get the chance to read their book about the animal they researched.

Our conferences will be held on April 13th from 5-8. Please make the time to come in and discuss your child’s progress. I can schedule 15 minute blocks of time. I will send home a time schedule next week so you can sign-up for a time to meet.

Have a nice weekend!

 Sincerely,

Mrs. Lyman
