Mackinac Island

It was really hard waking up at 4:00 in the morning but it was worth it if you would want to go to Mackinac Island. If you wouldn’t want to go to Mackinac Island you’re weird. But if you would want to go you are not weird. I am going to tell you about the time my class and I went to Mackinac Island.

Last week I went to Mackinac Island. It was really fun but we had to stay in the bus for 3 ½ hours straight. I was tired and bored but at least Hanna and Savannah had Ipods. When we got off the bus we were so happy. The first thing that we did when we got there was go on a carriage ride. We actually learned some cool things about Mackinac Island. We learned that the state park was the first in Michigan and the oldest Lilac Tree on Mackinac Island is over 300 years old. We got to see Skull Cave, Lake Huron, Arch Rock, and Fort Mackinac. Now I will tell you about all four places my friends and I went to. I am going to tell you are really short story about Skull Cave. There once was a man that went into Skull Cave. He slept there all night thinking he was sleeping on sticks and stones. Then the next morning he found out that he was sleeping on bones and skulls and that’s how skull cave got its name.

Now I am going to tell you about when we saw Arch Rock. The girl told us that some builder built Arch Rock on purpose. I am now going to tell you about Fort Mackinac. When we got to Fort Mackinac we had to walk all the way up a long paved sidewalk. Then we got to see a cannon shoot off and also guns. After that we went in a chamber room and locked my dad and Nick in it. Then we had to let them out. Then we went in some other room and the boys jumped out and scared us half to death. After they scared us we got them back by locking all of them in the chamber but somehow they got out.

When we got to see Lake Huron it looked beautiful.

Now I think you would like to hear about The Grand Hotel. When we got to the Grand Hotel they gave us passes to get into the dining room. The buffet table was about 20 feet long! I ate potatoes and turkey. At the dessert table there was about 10 different kinds of desserts. After we were done we had to leave. I got sad  because we were leaving the greatest food on earth and that was the time we went to Mackinac Island.

Have you ever been to Mackinac Island? We went May 6, 2011.

We went on a ferry. It was named Sheplers. There were two decks. We went  on both. We saw big waves and the Mackinac Bridge.

We went on a carriage ride. The oldest lilac tree is 300 years old. We saw a canyon called Arch Rock. Did you know that Mackinac Island is a National Park?

The last thing we went to was the Mackinac fort. Beer used to be five cents. They made muffs and gun powder. Fort Mackinac was built on a hill. That's what we did at Mackinac.

We got to the ferry and we stopped at the dock. We went to the carriage ride and the person was telling us about all the stuff on Mackinac Island.

When we were at the Grand Hotel, I had a good time except I threw up. When we were on the carriage ride we went through a grave yard.

We went all over Mackinac Island. I was trying to look for souvineers. I went to the fort too.

I went to a store and I bought a Detroit Piston's necklace and we bought fur. When we were on the ferry we had a fun day.

When we went to Mackinac Island we rode Shepler's Ferry over to the Island. When we got off the boat we went on a carriage ride. After the carriage ride we had some free time. My mom and I went to a few stores. We saw a 3D maze. When you put on the glasses there's dots on the floor that look like they are floating. It's really cool. After free time we went to the Grand Hotel for lunch. It was really fancy! There was someone at the door and the food was perfect! There was turkey and fudge and jello. They practically had every thing. The bathrooms there were gorgeous. I had a great time. After lunch we had some more free time. At Catty Wampus I got an awesome slide whistle. Then we went to Fort Mackinac. We got there just in time to see them launch the cannon. Then we headed back to the ferry. We rode to Mackinac City. Some people got on the bus and some got in cars and rode home. I had a great day.

It all began when we were on a bus driving to Mackinac Island. It was three hours long. Then we got off. And got on the boat. Next we went on a carriage ride. It was amazing. The ladie took us on a tour and we saw some cool things like Lake Huron.

Next we went to the Grand Hotel and had lunch. I had sushi. We had fancy food, fancy plates and fancy silverware. It was a special lunch.

On the way home I rode on the top of the ferry. It was cold and windy. I liked the ferry ride because it was fase.

We got on the bus and went home. We got home at 9:00 then I went to bed.
