I learned that
there was an old tree that got shocked by lighting and spit apart. I
also learned that a tree fell down and it almost hit the chaple from
my mom. There was a bird that made different holes than other birds.
We also saw an owl that lived in one of the only forest that almost
died. The last thing I learned about is that many animals depend on
trees. ~Sara
On May 13th the
fourth grade went to Hartwick Pines. We had fun on the way there and
back. We played skins and skulls. It is a game where you guess what
animal your holding. It was fun. It was a fun field trip. ~Brendan

we went to Hartwick Pines. I had a fun time. I learned that if you
walk on the soil to much with a tree by it the soil what they are
will get packed down so hard that the tree roots can't get any water
to live. We played a games called skins and skulls. The game rules
are that you have to be blind folded so you couldn't see the skins
or skulls and you had to feel them and guess what they are. It was a
fun game. When we had lunch there were swings and we played a fun
game with them. I had a fun time at Hartwick Pines.

I would like
to tell you what I thought was very interesting at Hartwick pines. First
we got there and ate lunch. After that played on the swings. When we got
finished eating we got on the bus and went to the visitors center. We
met up with our guide and started the hike. We had a lot of fun
questions asked and saw a lot of cool animals. After the walk we went
into a area that had a lot of logging pictures. we saw what they used to
cut the wood and mark the company names on logs. When that was over we
went back to the visitors center. When we got there we played a game
called skins and skulls. We all played and had a fun time. Later on
after that we got to go in the gift shop. when everybody was done we got
on the bus and went to go eat at Mc Donalds. ~Blake S.
Hartwick Pines
was a fun field trip. I got to buy a slit off of a rock at the gift
shop. I learned how big wheels work. They are trailer type things
that haul wood underneath of them. I also learned how the loggers
sleep ~Jarrett

I loved hartwick
pine. I got some really good pictures. One is of a tree that got hit
by lightning! I also got a lot a of pictures of skins like a wolf,
bobcat, i think a weasel, and more. I don't think I've been in
Gaylord before so when we went to the field trip it was my first
time! ~Jodi

We went to Hartwick Pines. It is near Grayling. I learned that if
you strip around a tree it will die. I had fun with my friends. We
were on the swing set and we got pushed off them. ~Mason

On May 13th we
went to Hartwick Pines. Hartwick Pines is near Grayling. Hartwick
Pines is named after George Hartwick, who was a soldier in World War
I, and he died of disease. At Hartwick Pines I got to hold a grey
fox fur. Grey foxes can climb trees. Before the trip, we got to play
on swings and eat lunch. After the trail a man told us about logging
in Michigan. I learned that in the 1800s white pine was worth more
than gold so white pine's nickname was green gold. I learned a lot
of new stuff there. ~Ben J.
