Mrs. Niederstadt's Parent Letter for March 19, 2010

Dear Parents,

Happy spring!  Tomorrow is the first day of spring.  Yesterday we celebrated by having Camp Read-a-Lot.  It was more like Camp Eat-a-Lot.  Students enjoyed the many snack donations.  Thank you!!  I’ve already sent pictures to our web master.  Soon she’ll have the web page ready for viewing.

Speaking of spring, the weather will vary from day to day for the next several months.  Also keep in mind that we get a nice wind sitting on top of the hill.  Boots/inside shoes are needed only if the weather has been rainy.  This will minimize wet and muddy bottoms from sitting on our carpet.  Here are my expectations for attire:

  • 40s – coat and hat
  • 50s - coat
  • 60s (lower) – coat or sweatshirt
  • 60s (upper) – short-sleeves will need coat/sweatshirt

On Tuesday evening, we will host Young Author’s Night from 6:00 – 7:00 p.m. in the media center.  Students will have the opportunity to share their BARE books.  They have worked very hard over the past three weeks.  Students able to attend Young Author’s Night can leave with their books.  If you are unable to attend, then your child will bring his/her book home on Wednesday.

I will be out of the classroom on Thursday and Friday.  Mrs. Wurstner will be my substitute.  She has been our classroom several times this year.  Due to my absence there will be no homework, spelling words, or Friday Folder next week.  Have a safe and happy spring break.  I’ll see everyone back on Tuesday, April 6th.

Parent-teacher conferences are Wednesday, April 14th at 5-8 p.m., but my schedule will be open from 3-8 p.m.  Please contact me to schedule your conference at 889-9674 ext. 436 or via email at sniederstadt@manistee.org .
