Mrs. Niederstadt's Weekly Parent Letter

February 11, 2010

Dear Parents,

Next week we will study a new science unit: life cycles.  We’ll watch several video clips in the distance learning room by Discovery Channel.  They will discuss the stages of life cycles for plants and animals.

On Thursday we’ll walk to the Onekama Public Library from 11:45 – 1:30.  I will stop at the library after school on Wednesday to return any books.  If you are able to join us, I would love your help.

“The Class Store” is open for business on Friday, February 26th.  Sue Tolin has been my cashier for about eight years.  She has graciously volunteered to help with our class store again this year.  The Class Store is a bulletin board consisting of many items such as rulers, pads of paper, posters, stickers, pencils, pens, highlighters, bookmarks and much more.  Each item has a price tag.  Students will be able to purchase items on Fridays.  They must be able to count the money in order to purchase an item.  Your child will earn plastic money for completing work, following directions, working quietly, helping a friend or many other possibilities.  The store is a privilege for those who have earned it.  Donations are always appreciated.  Any of the many dollar stores offer great items for us to use.

There is no school on Monday – Winter Break.  Due to the short week there will be no spelling words.  Your child’s next spelling list will come home on Monday, Feb 22nd.  Attached you should find your child’s last spelling test.

The following are dates that you may want to add to your calendar:

  • Substitute – Feb. 17 at 8 – 11 a.m.
  • Onekama Public Library – Feb. 18

Mrs. N
