Dear
Parents,
This
past week was a busy week. We’ve finished the
Iowa Tests of Basic Skills (ITBS). Your
child’s results will be mailed to you by the end of the school
year. Also we had parent-teacher conferences last Wednesday. Thank
you for timing out of your busy schedule to meet with me. I truly
enjoy the opportunity to visit with you.
During
spring conferences parents want to know about next year’s placement
of their child and teachers’ assignments. As of right now Mr.
Mauntler teaches straight second grade and Mrs. Eichberger teaches a
2/3 split, but there may be changes due to school funding and
enrollment numbers. In the fall Mrs. Hagen creates the classroom
lists according to requests. If you would like to make a teacher
request, then I strongly recommend you do so before the end
of the school year.
At
conferences I learned about the Manistee County Library’s website.
The address is
http://www.manisteelibrary.org/. On their site is a link to
“Tumble Books.” They are on-line books. Students can read them or
read-along with the narrator. Each book is leveled for a range of
grades. It would be a wonderful resource to use this summer to keep
up reading skills for any elementary student. We are going use this
program in the computer lab next Thursday. If you have a pair of
headphones, then please label and send them in with your child.
This will save hearing 18 stories at the same time. |
Next
week I would like to celebrate summer birthdays. It is important
not to forget our summer birthday friends. We will celebrate June
birthdays the week of the April 19th. On Tuesday we will
celebrate Michael W.’s birthday (June 13th) and Autumn
E.’s on Thursday (June 22nd). The following week we will
celebrate Hunter H.’s birthday (July 30th) on Tuesday and
Kaden B.’s (August 1st) on Thursday.
Next week
we’ll discuss weather and how it changes from day to day and over
the seasons. We’ll identify tools for observing, recording and
predicting weather changes.
On Thursday
we will help clean up around the school property in honor of Earth
Day. Please send in a pair of work gloves with your child so s/he
does not touch the trash directly.
The
following are dates that you may want to add to your calendar:
-
Production of Annie – April 16, 17, & 18
-
County-Wide In-Service (No School) – April 30
-
Spring Sing – May 26 at 7 p.m.
