First Graders Visit
Amber Elk Ranch

On Thursday, May 20, 2010 all first grade students went to Amber Elk Ranch in Ludington.  We were greeted by Mr. Bob and Rocky the turkey.

Each class was divided onto two wagons pulled by tractors.  We traveled by wagon to view about 150 elk located on the 130 acre ranch.  Students were able to feed the elk by hand.  It was fascinating to view these beautiful animals so close.  One bull weighed as much as 1000 pounds.

After the ranch we went to Waterfront Park located on the shore of Lake Michigan in Ludington.  We enjoyed a picnic lunch and spent some time playing on the playground.  In the background the famous “Badger” was preparing for its summer season.

The weather was perfect.  Needless to say it was a wonderful day.
