Dear First Grade Families,
This week during shared reading time we learned to read If you give a
moose a muffin by Laura Joffe Numeroff. We wrote about the things
moose did in the story, we acted out parts of the story, we learned many
new words, and we made a class book.
In math this week we
practiced finding rules for function machines, we learned how to tell
time on a digital clock, and we completed the unit 6 checking progress.
Graded tests came home today. Please go over any area of the test that
was hard for your child.
Next week we are closed for
Spring Break. School will resume on Tuesday, April 6th.
My only sister is getting
married in Florida on April 9th. I will be in Florida April 6th
through the 9th. Mrs. Wurnster will be here in my place. She
was a first grade teacher for many years. She has taught library many
times this year for Mrs. Exo and she has been in my room a couple times
so the kids have an established relationship with her. I know she will
take good care of them. |
April
12th through April 16th your child will take the
Iowa Test of the Basic Skills. This is a standardized test that first
through eighth graders will take. Your child will be tested on math,
reading, science, and social studies. Please be sure they eat a good
healthy breakfast and they are well rested so they can perform at their
best.
Conferences will be held on
Wednesday, April 14th from 5-8 pm and Thursday, April 15th
from 3:00-4:00 pm. If you did not turn in a conference time this week I
will need your time by Tuesday, April 13th. Those of you who
chose a time have your conference time attached to this letter.
Please be sure you turn in your
Public Library books. They are due on the 6th.
The deadline to sign-up for MRA
soccer is March 30th. If you need more information you can go
to the MRA office in Manistee at the Briny Building, or call Abby
Tomaszewski at 231-723-9274.
I will not be assigning homework during the week I am gone. Homework
will resume April 12th through the 15th. |
