Dear First Grade Families,

On Monday morning we saw the first act of our high school musical, Annie. The actors did an excellent job. If your child would like to see the musical in its entirety you can bring them Friday at 7:00, Saturday at 7:00 or Sunday at 3:00.

Our brand new wing of the school is open! We have been enjoying our new lunch area, music room and art studio. Mr. Bromley would like to use the new gym, but not everyone has been wearing gym shoes on Tuesday. Please be sure your child comes to school wearing rubber soled athletic shoes on our gym day (Tuesday’s) so they can enjoy our new gym.

We completed the last part of the Iowa Test of the Basic Skills this morning. The kids did a great job staying focused and doing their best. I was mistaken in my previous letters home. The test had only math and reading concepts. It did not test science or social studies.

We had a unit 7 checking progress. Graded tests came home today. The family letter introducing unit 8 came home today also. Please keep in mind that I will not be introducing too many new concepts. I want to review and practice skills we have learned so they can achieve mastery and readiness for second grade.

Sign-up for summer baseball starts soon. A registration form came home today in your child’s folder.

One of our literacy stations next week will be science. If your child has any items at home they would like to donate to the science station please have them bring their items to school.

I would like to thank all of you who attended conferences. It was nice to talk to all of you again about the progress your children have made.

 Have a wonderful weekend!

Sincerely,

Mrs. Lyman
