By Michele

This year the kindergarten hatched chicks. Reaghan is a student in Mr. K’s class.

Reaghan said “The guy that brought in the chicks had brown hair, glasses, and a red coat.” When Reaghan first saw the chicks she thought they were not going to hatch. The colors of the eggs were brown white and blue mixed. The first thing they had to do was mark X’s and O’s on the eggs. They put the X’s and O’s on the eggs to know how to turn the eggs. Something they had to do every day is turn the eggs. They had to turn them two times a day. An incubator is something that keeps the eggs warm, and softens the eggs. An incubator is an octagon. Candling is so you can see how big the chicks are getting. She could see a big black ball and a little black ball inside the eggs.  The baby chicks grew by eating its yolk.

Each kid in Mr. K’s class got to experience what candling was. It is where you get to see the chick inside the egg. Hogan thought of beaks when he saw the candling. The chicks grew by eating its own yolk just like Hogan said.
