This year the kindergarten hatched chicks. Reaghan
is a student in Mr. K’s class.
Reaghan said “The guy that brought in the chicks
had brown hair, glasses, and a red coat.” When Reaghan first
saw the chicks she thought they were not going to hatch. The
colors of the eggs were brown white and blue mixed. The
first thing they had to do was mark X’s and O’s on the eggs.
They put the X’s and O’s on the eggs to know how to turn the
eggs. Something they had to do every day is turn the eggs.
They had to turn them two times a day. An incubator is
something that keeps the eggs warm, and softens the eggs. An
incubator is an octagon. Candling is so you can see how big
the chicks are getting. She could see a big black ball and a
little black ball inside the eggs. The baby chicks grew by
eating its yolk.
She said it takes 21 days for a chick to hatch.
She felt good and excited when the chicks hatched. The coins
are to see the water and food just incase the chicks get
hungry or thirsty. “The chicks eat baby chick food,” Reaghan
said. She liked how the baby chicks hatched, and she liked
how pretty the chicks were.
Reaghan learned a lot this year. Mr. K’s class had
a lot of fun.

Mr. K's kindergarten class hatched eggs again!
Cadence is a student in Mr. K’s class.
Cadence said, “Mr.Wisniski gave them the eggs and
that she liked them.” Cadence described them by saying they
are white. She then said the first thing that we did was get
the egg and put X’s and O’s on the side of the eggs. They
did this so they knew when to role the eggs. She said that
something they have to do every day is role the eggs. We
had to roll them two times a day. They kept the eggs in an
incubator. The incubator is something to heat the eggs to
keep them war. Cadence said, another thing they would do is
candling. This is where you put the egg on a light and you
can see into the egg. She said that when you do this you can
see a chick. She then said that the baby chicks grow in the
egg by eating the yolk.
CRACK!!! She said it takes 21 days to hatch the eggs and
she was excited. The eggs hatched and they had a lot of
chicks. They then put coins in the water and food to help
the chicks see it. She said, “The chicks like to peck at the
food.”
The
thing Cadence liked the most was how the chicks came out of
the eggs. She had a lot of fun with the chicks. Talking
with Cadence was also a lot of fun!

Chicken Little

Taler Bohannon
This year in Mr. K’s class had a whole bunch of
chicks. Hogan is in Mr. K’s class this year.
Hogan said ‘’ Sophie family gave the chicks to the
class’’. Hogan thought of beaks when he saw the eggs. When
the class got the eggs they where white and blue. Everyone
in Mr. K’s class had to learn the words incubator and
candling. Each day Hogan and his friends got to turn the
eggs three times a day. The kindergartners knew how to turn
the eggs by X’s and O’s. Each kindergartner takes about two
to three eggs to putt X’s and O’s on. The X and O are so the
kids could see which way to switch the eggs each day. The
incubator is so the eggs could get amounts of heat at one
time. Each kid in Mr. K’s class got to experience what
candling was. It is where you get to see the chick inside
the egg. Hogan thought of beaks when he saw the candling.
The chicks grew by eating its own yolk just like Hogan said.
Then one day CRACK! CHIRP! CHIRP! CHIRP! CHIRP!
The little feather heads of the chicks popped out. Hogan
said ‘’ It felt like magic’’ when the eggs hatched. It took
twenty-one day still the eggs started to hatch. The chicks
have coins in their food so they could see it to eat or
drink. Hogan’s favorite part about the chicks was touching
them. Hogan said ‘’ chicken foo’’ after the question what so
baby chicks eat.
Hogan had a fun time inter-viewed. Mr. K’s class
is an awesome to show kids fun with chicks.
