The Onekama Kindergarten Daisy Troop meets twice a month on Tuesday afternoons from 3:00 to 4:00 in Mr. Kudlack’s classroom. Our troop has nine Daisy Scouts this year, and the troop leaders are Megan McCarthy and Chelle Hrachovina.

The goals for Daisy Scouts are:

to learn about and believe in herself

to develop an awareness of others and a sense of personal responsibility

to build a sense of personal worth

to develop a concept of good citizenship

to develop a growing awareness of the world

Rather than earning badges as they will do in Brownies and Girl Scouts, Daisy Scout girls work towards “petals.”  Each petal of the daisy represents a different quality, and our activities focus around understanding each of these qualities and how they relate to our lives.

The troop sends a friendly squeeze around the
“friendship circle."

Ashley and Breanna work on a craft project.

Girls enjoy a healthy snack to start the meeting.

Our meetings start with a healthy snack, then discussion and activity/ role play related to the Daisy petal topic of the day, and then a craft or additional hands-on activity. We end each meeting by reciting the Girl Scout promise and making a human friendship circle.

Our Daisy Scouts are enthusiastic about entering the world of Girl Scouts. We are having a great year!

Our November topic was “Considerate and Caring.” The girls earned their petals by making cards for someone who might need some cheering up, and also by bringing a non-perishable food item for the local food pantry.
