Mrs. Niederstadt's Parent Letter

December 12, 2008

Dear Parents,

Today we walked to the Onekama Public Library.  If your child returned his/her books, then s/he was able to check out three books.  These books are due on Friday, Jan. 9th.

Enclosed is a copy of your child’s third mathematics test.  The top page is a copy of the test.  This is your child’s test without any support.  The grade on the top of the paper reflects their knowledge of the subject tested.  The second page is the actual test.  We reviewed the answers together; students were to change any incorrect answers.  Our next mathematics unit is called “Measurement and Basic Facts.”  Students will have an opportunity to measure with nonstandard units, such as hand spans and paces, as well as with standard units, such as feet and inches, using a rules and a tape measure.

On Monday all items for The Giving Tree project need to be turned in.  If you have a tag, then bring your wrapped item to the office.  If you are donating a personal item, then send it in with your child.  I’ve purchased a white laundry basket to donate along with our personal items.  Unfortunately we only have four items in our basket.  We need any personal items such as shampoo, hand soap, bar soap, body soap, toothbrush, toothpaste, deodorant, lotion, dish soap, toilet paper, laundry soap, etc.  Please send in all items by December 15th.

On Friday we will visit the Rockin’ R Stable in Bear Lake along with all K-3 students.  We will leave at 10:00 and should return around 2:00 p.m.  We will have a 30-minute sleigh ride, build snowmen and sled.  Students need to bring a sack lunch.  We have no access to a microwave so it needs to be a cold lunch.  If needed you may purchase a sack lunch from the cafeteria for $2.25.  Parents and siblings are welcome, but you must provide your own transportation.  All students will ride the bus to and from the stable.  The cost is $5.00 per person.  For more information, please read the enclosed letter.  You will need to return the permission slip along with your child’s money.  Please attach the money to your child’s permission slip.
