Deputy Torrey visited our first
grade class yesterday in Mrs. Lyman’s room. He spoke to us about
safety. We are studying the following in health:
Our
new health unit titled “Helping Relationships.” Students will learn:

What is
means to be healthy;

What to do
to stay healthy;

Rules for
safety at home and at school;

How to
select and keep friends who encourage healthy behaviors;

How to
show respect for themselves and others;
-
How to
think carefully about decisions and problems;
-
How to act
in a healthy manner that follows family and community values;

How to say
“no” to drugs;

The value
of asking for help.
