Dear
First Grade Families, This week your
child completed their first theme test. After each reading unit they
take a test to help determine how they are doing with reading
comprehension, phonics and decoding, word knowledge, and writing. I
will score the tests and they will come home next week. Be sure to look
over the results. Any skill your child had trouble with is something
you can be helping them practice at home.
During our math time this week we
reviewed patterns, learned about odd and even numbers, and found
patterns on the number grid.
Our next visit to the public library
will be Nov. 7th. Please be sure that your child’s books
have been returned by then. You can bring them to school or take them
directly to the library.
We are collecting change for patients
with Leukemia. Please help your child find some change around the house
that you would be willing to donate. The classroom that brings in the
most money will win a prize! J
The end of the marking period is near.
Our conferences are scheduled for Nov. 25th from 5-8 and Nov.
26th from 8-11. Your child will be dismissed from school on
the 25th at 12:30. There will be no school on Wednesday,
Nov. 26th, Thursday Nov. 27th and Friday, Nov. 28th
due to the Thanksgiving holiday. |
Picture retake day is Monday, Nov. 10th.
If your child did not get their picture taken in Oct. they need to get
it taken on this day. Your child can also have their picture redone if
you are dissatisfied with their first picture.
A new book order has come home today.
If you would like to order books for your child please send the order
and a check by Monday, Nov. 10th.
Questions to ask your child this week
are the following:
1)
Can you make an AA BB pattern?
2)
Is the number 2 an odd number or an even number?
Have a safe and fun
Halloween weekend!
Sincerely,
Mrs. Lyman
