Dear
First Grade Families,
This week during
shared reading we learned to read If you give a moose a muffin by
Laura Numeroff. We completed a story map, wrote a letter to a friend,
completed a making words lesson, learned some moose facts, made a graph
of our favorite kinds of muffins, and made a class book.
In math this week we completed our geometry unit and we took our unit
seven checking progress. Graded tests and the unit eight letter have
come home.
I am so impressed with all the reading the kids have done for reading
month! They have all earned their scoops of ice cream. We enjoyed our
sundae celebration today! Keep up the reading and thank-you for helping
your child stay motivated to be involved in books!

Monday, April 13 through Thursday, April 16th your child will
be taking the Iowa Test of the Basic Skills. It will test in the areas
of reading and math. The format is similar to the magazine tests that
we took this year. Please make sure your child gets plenty of rest and
a big healthy breakfast during this week.
Well, today was my last day with your children. I want you to know how
much I have enjoyed getting to know them and I am so glad I could be a
part of their academic growth. They are all doing so well. Thank-you
for the support you provide at home. I will miss being with them to see
them through the end of the year, but they are in very good hands with
Miss Catanese. Thank-you so much for entrusting me with your first
grader this year. I hope to see all of you very soon.
Sincerely,
Mrs. Lyman |
