Dear
First Grade Families,
Our Christmas
around the world unit continued this week with a visit to Israel to
learn about the Hanukah celebration. We read a book about Hanukah,
found Israel on a world map, and we played the dreidel game.
In math this week we practiced measuring with the 6 inch
ruler and a tape measure. Your child’s graded unit three checking
progress came home today. This was a difficult test for some. Please
be sure you are practicing any of the concepts your child completed
incorrectly. Let me know if you have questions.
I am still collecting personal
care items for an Onekama family. Items needed include: shampoo,
conditioner, soap, deodorant, razors, toothbrushes, toothpaste, Kleenex,
etc. I will accept donations until the middle of next week.

We will be having a pajama day
next Thursday, December 18th. We will be reading and acting
out the story of The Polar Express. Please allow your child to come to
school in pajama’s, robes, slippers, etc.
Instead of having a Christmas
party in our classrooms the K-3 students will be visiting The Rockin R
Stables next week Friday, December 19th. We will be leaving
school at 10:00 and returning by 2:00. You are welcome to join us for
sleigh rides and a day of fun in the snow. A detailed letter came home
today.
Last week we visited the public
library. The books your child checked out are due on Friday, December
26th. Please be sure they are turned in by then. Our next
visit will be on January 16th.
Have a nice weekend!
Sincerely,
Mrs. Lyman |
