Dear
First Grade Families,
This week we were busy as we picked up trash around school grounds for
Earth Day, went to see the play Wizard of Oz, took a walk to the
Public Library, and began learning about Solar Energy!!
In
shared reading we read The Tug of War, a play adapted by Veronica
Freeman Ellis. Your children really enjoyed this as they were able to
have specific roles in the play as we acted it out. This was a great
story for this week since we were able to go and watch The Wizard of
Oz.
In math, we continued working with halves, thirds and quarters and
writing them out into fraction form. Fraction was an important math
term that we learned this week. |
Science was very exciting as we learned about Solar Energy and read the
book The Sun and its Energy. Your children had so many
interesting questions and facts about the sun. We did an art project on
Wednesday to learn more about the sun and its importance to
Earth.
New spelling words will be sent home on Monday, April 27th.
Have a great weekend!
Sincerely,
Ms. Catanese
