Dear Families,
We are settling into our daily
routines. Friendships are forming. The third grade students explored
the award winning Arcadia Historical Museum and then cleaned up the
Arcadia Beach. We have another trip to the fishing weir on Oct. 10.
I’m in the process of planning
a second grade field trip entitled Historic Sites of Onekama, as well as
our annual Spirit of the Woods trip.
Look for permission slips for
BOTH FIELD TRIPS next week.
Work in language this week
included working with homonyms – words that sound alike but have
different meaning and spellings.
Examples: pair and pear,
meet and meat, do and due, flee and flea, etc….
The use of adjectives in
writing descriptive sentences, as well as analyzing the two main
parts of a sentence (subject and predicate), were also learning
objectives for the week.
The third graders are also
reviewing for the Michigan Educational Assessment Test, which
will be taken in October. If you have questions about this standardized
test, also known as the MEAP, please contact me.
Sincerely,
Gretchen Eichberger-Kudlack
