The students will be building miniature buildings constructed from odds and ends found at home and in nature.   This lesson is inspired by the current construction going on at our school and literature containing themes of building and types of dwellings.

Skills used in this project will include geometry, measurement, writing, reading, and art.

We are in need of the following items:

• Small and medium  stones

• Flour

• Salt

• Toothpicks

• Small wood scraps

• Small twigs

• Beach glass

• Any items that resemble actual construction materials – be creative

These items should come to school in a container,  no later than Tuesday, Sept 30.

If any member of your family works in the construction business, we would love to have you be a guest in our classroom this week for a little Q and A session.   Preferable times include 8:00 AM – 9:30 AM, and 11:45 AM – 1:30 PM.    Please call or email me if you’d like to come in.
