“Nutrition and physical activity play such an important role when it comes to learning and developing our minds, bodies, and spirits.  After our school adopted our Local Wellness Policy in 2006 we anticipate the change that will occur as we build modern kitchen and physical fitness facilities.   Such renovation brings new hope and promise to the way our students eat and play.  As we shared our meal together that Friday afternoon, I could not help noticing how civil it was. We ate calmly, shared sweet conversation, and lingered over more jam, butter, and bread.  A second helping of milk was requested by almost all the children.  It felt almost surreal to me, as if these some of the children were experiencing a meal for the first time ever.”  ~Gretchen Eichberger-Kudlack, Teacher

On Friday our class had chicken soup with rice.  We had bread and milk and butter and jam and dried cherries.  It was a good lunch.  I still have some of the dried cherries.  The soup was made by Mrs. Eichberger.  ~By Katelynn

“Last Friday we had a local lunch. We had bread from the Pleasanton Oven Bakery.  Another thing we had was homemade chicken soup with rice.  It was awesome. I loved it.  We had butter, and milk from the Cream Cup Dairy.  Another thing we had was dried cherries from Frankfort.  And the best thing we had with our lunch was the jam from Food for Thought.  I liked all of it.  It was delicious.” ~By Whitney
