Healthy Bones

Our class enjoyed a visit from Dr. Beeman. She came to talk to us about bones. She brought in x-rays, and talked  to the students about what bones are made of, how to keep healthy bones, and how broken bones heal. ~Mrs. Catanese

Dr. Beeman came to visit. She taught us how broken bones heal, and all sorts of stuff. Dr. Beeman showed us some X-rays of the ribs, the hands, the pelvis and more. She told some of the foods we should eat to make our body strong. She also told us the stuff that is bad for our body like pop, candy and all that junk. Dr. Beeman told us what our bones are made of She also told us how many bones we have when we're born. Then when it was time for her to go she gave us suckers! ~Madison

When my Mom came to school she talked about bones. She brought in a few different things like, some exrays and a big skeliton. That thing was bigger than my dad! She also brought in some posters that she worked on all night. And she gave us a lollypop with gum inside, yum! I got watermelon flavor. We got to sit on the carpet. It was pretty cool! I liked it when my mom came. It was fun. ~Emily B.

On Friday Emily B's Mom came and visited us. She talked about bones. If you are a baby and you brake your femur. It takes 3 weeks for it to heal. If you are pretty old it takes 23 weeks to heal. If you are 86 or older you have a good chance it will never heal. She showed us X-rays. X-rays are pichers of your skeleton. The X-rays show you if your bones are broken or not. She also brought posters that show how the bones do stuff. ~McKenzie

On February 6, 2009 Dr. Beeman came to visit our class. She said that ligaments hold bones together. She made four signs that tell about bones. There are good foods that you should eat one of them. They are milk, yogert, meats, fruits and vegetables. Then at the end she gave us lolly pops it was fun!  ~Sophie S.

On Feb. 6, 2009 Dr. Beeman came to visit. She showed us how a broken bone heals. If you break your femur and you are in your 20's, as in years old, it would take about 20 weeks to heal but if you are a baby it would take 3 weeks. You have to eat the right food like yogurt, cheese and milk. Ligaments hold bones together. ~Jacob

      On February 6th, Dr. Beeman came in. Dr. Beeman shared a lot of things. She shared how do bones heal, how do we keep our bones healthy, how do bones move and what are bones made of.
      Dr. Beeman brought in some x-rays of brocken bones. They were cool because you got to see the broken bone. ~Zoe M.
 

She showed us some Xrays. Xrays are pictures. Xrays go in the body to look inside. She is a doctor. She is very good. If bones break a doctor will fix it. ~Renee

I liked when she came. I liked it because she helped me learn more about bones. Dr. Beeman came on Friday Feb. 6th. She brought in a skeleton and Xrays. I learned if you break your femur and you are a grown up it would take 20 weeks to heal. We learned a lot about bones. It was very nice of her to come in. We need to eat healthy to keep our bones working. ~Elizabeth

When Mrs. Beeman came to our classroom we talked about bones. She told me that when your blood reaches air it turns red. The thing that I liked most was how a bone heals. Like if you broke your femur and you are a baby it only takes 3 weeks to heal but if you are a grown up it takes 20 weeks. ~James

I had so much fun when Dr. Beeman came. She brought in X-rays of your ribs, skull, pelvis and more bones. She talked about how your bone heals. For a brockin bone to heal for a baby it takes 3 weeks. For a grown up it takes 20 weeks. At the end before she left she gave us suckers. They had gum inside of it. She said that pop and smoking are bad for your body. ~Sylvia

If you broke your femur and you were a baby it would take 3 weeks to heal. If you broke your femur and you were a grown up It would take 5 months to heal. Your muscles need to relax and contract. Ligaments hold bones together. Eat the right foods like milk, cheese and yogurt. ~Student writing

Dr. Beeman visited us on Friday to show about bones to the class. I liked it when she showed a big plastic sceliton. She showed some xrays that some people had taken in the hospital. She made some posters to show us. If a grown up breaks their femur it takes up to 20 weeks to heal. A cast helps you leg heal by holding it in one place. I got to be in a picture with the big sceliton. ~Carlee

When Dr. Beeman came she brought Bob the Bone Builder's dad. She told us about when broken bones heals. Dr. Beeman showed us some xrays. Some of the things that Dr. Beeman told us was how do we keep our bones healthy. How do bones move, How do Broken bones heal, What are Bones made of. At the end Dr. Beeman gave us all lolly pops. ~Sydnee M.
