Welcome to a new year! It is going to be an exciting year and we’re looking forward to working with you and your child. This year your child will experience rotating between three classrooms for the subject areas of Mathematics, Language Arts, Science and Social Studies. The learning environment will include individual accountability and cooperative learning. School starts at 8:00 a.m. Students are expected to be in the room by 8:00 a.m. Recess time for the upper elementary students is 1:45-2:00 daily. The school day ends at 3:03 p.m. and, unless otherwise arranged by 2:00 each day, it is expected that your child will go directly home. Lunch Our lunchtime begins at 11:00 until 11:44. Students are allowed to have water kept in a water bottle at their desk throughout the day. Homework Policy The students will be given no more that 45 minutes of homework per night Monday through Thursday. Each student will be responsible for recording assignments in their Agenda Book at the end of the day. This book is a useful tool for students to get organized in their study habits. This book is to be taken home and initialed by a parent or guardian after the work is completed. Parents are encouraged to review the Agenda Book and jot down notes or questions for the teacher in the book. Each day the Agenda Book will be checked for initials and all homework collected. Attendance Policy Everyday class attendance is encouraged. There will be an Assignment Sheet of the work missed the day(s) your child is absent and we would like to see the student take on the responsibility of requesting their make-up work. Grading Letter grades will be administered this year in Language Arts, Reading, Mathematics, Science, Social Studies and Spelling. We hope this is the beginning of a great school year. We are looking forward to making this a great year!
