Inauguration Day 2009
The
students also had to do an at home assignment prior to us watching
the inauguration. The assignment came from Scholastic and had the
students read and learn about the seven jobs of the president and
address problems that they would speak about if they were the
president. They then had to share their papers with the rest of the
class. The main question was, “If you were the President, what
problems would you want to fix?” Here is an example of Austin’s
speech (the bold words are the words given to the students):
“Fellow Americans, I am proud to be your new President. Over the
next four years I promise to
keep the economy out
of depression. I also would try to create new jobs.
I think this issue is important because
people are losing
their jobs and having a hard time paying their bills. Also because
I don’t want people to lose their houses and live on the street.
I will accomplish this goal by
giving people money to
get the economy going again. By creating more jobs, it will give
people more money to pay their bills.
In conclusion, I would like to say
the Americans will see
an improvement in the next year. |
