On Friday the 13th we went to Camp Pendalouan. It is a YMCA camp in Muskegon. When we left it was 8:00. It is about an hour and a half. When we got there we were introduced to them. Then we split up into groups. My group was Hunter, Keegan, Trever, Miah, and I. After we split up into groups we went orienteering. That is were you use a compass. When we were orienteering we had to look for basic survival materials. The materials were a rope, can, tarp, and matches. We used the rope to hold up our shelter. We used the tarp to put over the rope. We used the matches for lighting the fire and the can for melting snow to make water. When we found all the materials we went into the woods and made a fire and shelter. After a little while we had to go. Camp Pandelouan was a very fun field trip. ~Jon A.

A few days ago we went to this camp Pandelouon (Y.M.C.A. camp) in Muskegon. It was really fun. We learned orienteering (compass reading), survival skills, and how to build fire and shelter. We had so much fun! ~Courtney L.

Last week we went to Muskegon to the camp Pandelouon. It was a YMCA camp. First we learned how to use a compass. Then we used the compass to find stuff we needed to survive in the wilderness. Then we ate lunch. After lunch we built a fire and a shelter. I love camp Pandelouon.

Friday we went to the Muskegon camp called Pandalouan. We had a long trip there. Once we got there we had to grab everything off the bus and go and talk to one of the people that worked there. She told us where the buildings were like the bathroom and the lodge. Once we found out where everything is we went into the lodge. Then we split into classes Mr. Neph's class went to learn how to build a fire and a shelter. We went to learn how to use a compass. Once we knew how to use a compass we went on a little scavenger hunt for things we could use to survive in the wild. We were split into groups of 4. The groups would use the compass to find the things they could use to survive in the wild. Once we had all of our things we went and had lunch. After lunch they picked out some of the groups to go with 2 of the workers to help with building fires. The other groups went with the other 2 workers to go build their fires. On our way to the fire places where we will build our fires we had to pick up things that could help us build our fire. When we got to the fire places we started to build the fires. When we got our fires going we used one of the things we gathered which was the can and we put snow in the can and put it on the fire it started to melt. Then we had to work on our shelter. Which we used a tarp which we also found. Then we had to use the rope which we also found. We started the fire with matches which we found. Then we ran out of time and we were supposed to get the water boiling and we also had to test our shelter. We really liked going to this camp. ~Alyssan

On Friday the 13th the fifth grade went to a camp called Pandalouan in Muskegon. When we got there we got into two different groups. My group got to learn about the compass first. When my whole entire group learned how to use the compass we had to find things in the woods that would help us build a fire and a shelter. In my group there was Caleb, Braden, Taya, and Larissa. My group found all of the things that would help us with making a shelter and a fire. After we found all of the things we went to the building and had lunch. Then we built a fire and shelter. Our field trip was so much fun.

The fifth grade went to YMCA Camp Pandelouon. We went on Friday the 13th. Camp Pandelouon is in Muskegon. First we learned how to use a compass and then we used the compass out in the woods. Then we learned survival skills and than went into the woods and built a shelter. My group tried to build a fire but it didn't work. Even though we couldn't make a fire it was still really fun. ~Larissa

Friday we went to camp pandalouan it was a lot fun. It was all know as the ymca camp. We learned survival skill. We had to find stuff with compass. We had to make a fiver and a shelter. The camp was in Muskegon. Friday was the best Friday in school history. ~Jarrett
