Yesterday we went to Grand Rapids for a field
trip. My mom was a chaperone. In my group was Jarett,
Cameron, Devin, Payton, and Cameron’s mom. In Grand
Rapids we went to the Grand Rapids public Museum. On
the way up most of my class played there Nintendo DS.
My class mostly played Mario cart. I played my sister’s
DS and my PSP. My favorite part was being in the
planetarium. In the planetarium we watched Space
Chase. I saw a cougar that was stuffed in a show case.
We had lunch in the museum. My group walked to the
sculpture in downtown Grand Rapids. On the way back
home we played Mario party. We ate at the Golden
Corral. I had pizza and a honey bun it was good. After
we had a lot of ice cream. We had a lot of ice cream
because it was self serve. I first had Vanilla with
crushed cookies and then I had m & m’s and Vanilla and
then I just had vanilla. When we went home I played
Payton’s PSP. I had a lot of fun on the Field trip. It
was fun. ~Andrew Clarke
We
went to the Public Museum of Grand Rapids yesterday.
There were three floors and a lot to see. One of the
exhibits we went to see took us an hour. Then we had
lunch for half an hour. We watched the cyber chase in
the planetarium. My favorite parts were the animal
exhibit. Before we had lunch we went down the road to
see a really big sculpture in downtown. After the
planetarium we rode the carousal. Then we went to a park
and played for a while. We went to the golden corral. We
had the buffet. It was really good. Lawrence made a
chocolate ice cream mountain. We had a lot of fun and a
great time. ~J.S.
This year the fifth grade went to Grand
Rapids. We went to the public museum. There were tons of
exhibits that we got to go to. The first one that we
went to was the “dolls” exhibit. There were a whole
bunch of dolls from a long time ago. There was also a
“Juke box” that I got to select a song on. There were a
whole bunch of other exhibits that we went to. Then we
had lunch. There was a room that reserved for us. I had
a tuna sandwich that my dad packed for me. It was
DELICIOUS! Then we went to the planetarium. We watched a
show called “Space Chase”. It was probably my favorite
part of the whole trip because when you looked at the
screen, you felt like you were moving with the main
character. Then we went to the carousel. After that, we
went to the playground to get all of our energy out. I
went on the tire swing and Kelsey swung me around really
fast. Then we went to the “Golden Coral” restaurant. I
had two pieces of lemon meringue pie. Louise had a lot
of ice cream smothered in chocolate so we were both
really hyper! I had a great time, and I would really to
do it again! ~J.M.
On May 22, 2008 the fifth grade went on a
fourteen hour field trip. The bus ride there and back
was about two hours long. When we got there, the first
thing the group I was did was explore all the levels of
exhibits. I liked the animal and fish exhibit were you
could look through glass and you can see all kinds of
birds and animals in their habitat.
The people in the group I was
in were Mrs. Laws Tucker, Mrs. Tolin, Devin T, Katie,
Thomas, Eric, and I. After exploring for hours we
finally had lunch. Boy was I hungry. Then after eating a
wonderful lunch, we went to the Planetarium. It was
AWESOME!! It felt like you where actually in space and
it was 3-D too. That was one hour long, but it was
awesome. So when that was done we all got to go to the
carousel. WEEE! I felt like a five year old at a circus.
Then we loaded up the buses and headed toward the park.
That was fun to, but Tucker and I almost got molded by
geese that hissed at us. Next was the Golden Coral. It
was a nice little restraunt in Muskegon. I wasn’t very
hungry but I ate. I was funny when Lawrence had an ice
cream dish with ice cream in it about five inches tall.
Finally we left the restraunt and headed towards home. I
had fun at the Public Museum of Grand Rapids and I want
to go again. ~Gerald
Yesterday’s field trip was exciting. Riding the bus
didn’t take very long because I had stuff to do. The
planetarium was really cool. When the lights were
spinning on the screen it felt like we were the ones
spinning. In the nature part of the museum there was a
lot of habitats. It showed like a forest habitat, a pond
habitat, and there was a lot more habitats. In this one
habitat it showed the forest floor magnetized. It showed
a dead mouse. The mouse was big. It had a big leaf and a
lot of big insects and bugs. In the pond habitat you
could see what was above and under the water. In this
one room in the habitats there were these animals that
looked so real. My favorite one was the wolves. The one
with the wolves looked so realistic. There was a moose,
a fox, and a possum habitat to. The egyptian exhibit was
really exciting. They had real mummies and mummy tombs.
Eric did this strange dance. He said it is so he doesn’t
get cursed by the mummy. Instead of a t-rex skeleton
like most museums have there was a whale skeleton. They
had this part of the museum on the first floor showed
what Grand Rapids looked like back then. They even had a
Carousal. They had a lot of war stuff. In the
planetarium Mr. Neph fell asleep. The second floor was
really hi up. The third floor was really hi up. Eric
said he didn’t want to get anywhere near the window. He
said he was afraid of heights. In this one part of the
museum they had a lot of life like animals. They even
had a scorpion. On the bottom floor there was a dinosaur
exhibit. It showed a mammoth tusk. There were
felociraptor bones.There was even a skull of a t-rex.
They had a skeleton of a mammoth. After the museum we
went to a park. Then after the park we went to eat at
the golden corral. The food there was really good. After
that we went home. That museum was fun. I want to go
there again someday. ~D.T. |
On Wednesday May 21st the 5th
grade classes went to a museum in Grand Rapids. The trip
to the museum took about 3 hours. When we got to the
museum we had to get in to our groups of three. The
group I was in joined up with Megan’s group. After we
looked around the museum we went to lunch. A few minutes
later we went to see a show in the planetarium. The show
was called Space Chase. The show was so cool. After that
we had to start heading to a park. We went there so we
could get some of our energy out. When we got done with
that we went to this nice restaurant. We had an all you
can eat thing. I had a lot of chicken. My favorite part
was the planetarium. My other favorite part was the juke
box room. The trip and museum was a very fun trip.

I think the Grand Rapids field trip was fun.
Some parts I liked about it was, the Egyptian exhibit
was one of my favorite parts because I saw three
mummies. Also while we were in there, I did the dance of
the Egyptians to make sure no curse of the mummy would
come upon me. I also liked the animal exhibit because
you could push buttons and hear what the animals sound
like. In the planetarium we watched a movie called
Space Chase. It was fun and able to make you dizzy
both at the same time. Also there was a “Mustached
Whale” skeleton in the main room. There was even a World
War I or World War II plane. Those are things I liked
about the public museum of Grand Rapids. ~E.R.H.
My
Favorite part of the field trip yesterday the 21st
was the Planetarium. I liked the Planetarium
because there was a round screen above all of us.
Another thing I liked about it was the screen moved and
I felt like I was moving was moving too. Another thing I
liked was the Carousel because Cameron and I would do
stupid things like sit on it sideways and hug it which
Cameron did. Then we rode the bus I played my PSP but
then the Battery died. Then we ate at the Golden Carral.
Lawrence had a huge plate of ice cream. Oh I almost
forgot Cameron flicked me on the ear and had to say
sorry. It was a lot of fun and it was the best field
trip ever. ~D.C.
Yesterday my class went to the public museum of Grand
Rapids. I liked the movie because it looked like you
were going around and upside down. The carousal was fun
because you got to ride on a horse and I rode in a
sleigh when Mr. Neph wasn’t looking. I danced around the
pole with Jarrett. I liked the park because Russell
pushed us on the tire swing I liked the golden corral
because of all the food was good. I had a lot of fun on
the field trip. ~Kyler.
On Wednesday May 21, the fifth graders went
to the Gerald R Ford Museum. My favorite was the animal
exhibit. There were fish, wolves, and a forest part in
the exhibit. I liked the fish exhibit the best because I
like to fish. They also had an ancient gun exhibit. It
showed shotguns and rifles. My favorite gun was the
triple barreled shotgun. After the museum we went to a
park. Russell found a game that made you want to BARF!
He spun kids around super hard. Then we ate at the
Golden Corral I had five helpings of food. The hand
dryer put craters in your skin! Then it was back on the
bus. I want to do that again. ~E.L.H.
