A Look Back and Ahead

During this last week in Reading we worked on our theme test. When you get the test back, please look on the score sheet to see which parts we did together. Again, I will only grade/score the questions they do on their own. The new theme for Reading is “Be A Nature Detective”. We will be reading selections that focus on becoming more aware of the things around us. Keep in mind we will be going on a field trip in early November that neatly wraps this unit up.

For Writing we will be continuing to work with complete sentences for the next few weeks. The students will be making up sentences that have capitals, end marks, naming/action parts.

In spelling we have added words to our spelling dictionaries. We will probably have our first spelling list sometime in the next 2 weeks.

During Math we worked on our first assessment. We will be working with addition/subtraction strategies and fact families. Please continue working with flashcards, telling time, and counting change at home.

Thank you to Mrs. Blevins for coming in each week and running the register for the school storeJ Thank you also Mrs. Falk for giving us time on Friday. And thank you for the parents who have thoughtfully and tactfully brought in or sent in really neat show-and-tells.

Sincerely,

Ben Mauntler
