In Reading this last week we read “What Lives in a Shell?”. That book was about the kinds of animals that live in shells. We worked on and will continue working on identifying topic/main idea/supporting details and with looking at things more closely. At the end of the week we sorted the shells found in the book into categories. The next book we are reading is called “Where Does the Trail Lead?” It is a book that takes the reader on a trail around an island. We will wrap up that book by creating a map of the island in the book.

For Writing we will continue to work with complete sentences. The students have been and will continue making up sentences that have capitals, end marks, naming/action parts.

I apologize for not having the spelling test this week. Due to the fact that a lot of us weren’t ready with our lists and could not study the words for an appropriate length of time, we will have our first spelling test this next week on October 30. Each child has made their own list from the words I have chosen for them. The spelling list is written on lined paper with the word first, and the sentence following. The test date is on the top of the spelling list. Look for study nights on the homework!

During Math we worked on frames and arrows problems. We completed our unit 2 assessment also. We will be starting Unit 3 next week. It deals primarily with place value and counting coins to a higher amount. Please continue working with flashcards, telling time, and counting change at home.

I am contemplating having the school store open once a month for our class. Please let me know if you would rather have it open each week.

Thank you for all who donated to the food pantry. We ended up with two nice crates of food to donate!

Sincerely,
