For Reading this last week we worked with the story “My First American Friend”. We worked with sequencing, cause/effect, making generalizations, and answering comprehension questions from the story. We will continue all those skills for next week’s story: “Watch Out! Ronald Morgan”. For Writing we will continue to work with complete sentences. The students have been and will continue making up sentences that have capitals, end marks, naming/action parts. We will continue writing paragraphs, with main ideas and supporting details, in our morning journals. We have started proofreading our work. Please go over your child’s work in their Thursday folders, maybe pick an assignment they wrote and practice proofreading with them, if the mood strikesJ. We worked on our new spelling lists at the end of this week. The next test will be late next week. |
During Math we reviewed Unit 3 skills and took the Unit 3 assessment. Unit 4 will deal primarily with double-digit addition strategies. I will be sending Home Links (from the Math series) home to help explain the strategies and give you a chance to practice with your child. Please continue working with flashcards, memorizing those facts will come in handy more than ever now. If you feel your child is ready to advance with his/her flashcards, please let me know on the homework sheet. I will test him/her that day. Kathy Cook has been testing on Thursdays and Fridays, she will continue to do so. Thank you all for coming in for Parent-Teacher Conferences, working together will ensure your child’s success.
