For Reading this last week we worked with the story “What Kind of Babysitter Is This?” We worked with predicting, sequencing, cause/effect, and plot. We will continue all those skills for next week’s story: “Ruby the Copycat”.

For Writing we will continue to work with complete sentences and writing paragraphs, with main ideas and supporting details, in our morning journals. We have started proofreading our work. Please go over your child’s work in their Thursday folders, maybe pick an assignment they wrote and practice proofreading with them, if the mood strikesJ.

We worked on our new spelling lists this week. The next test will be on Thursday the 19th.

During Math we started to read a thermometer to tell temperature. We will continue practicing reading a thermometer and practicing the addition strategies we learned last week.  We will conclude unit 4 next week. Please continue working with flashcards, memorizing those facts has come in handy and will continue to come in handy.

Please remember we will be attending the movie “Alvin and the Chipmunks” in lieu of a Christmas party next week. Keep in mind too that parents and even younger siblings are more than welcome to come join us. Not to mention that a movie day, popcorn, and a water for 5 bucks is hard to beat!

Thank you for all your support and hard work at home, it has really paid off. I have really seen a lot of great things happening for each child so far this year and I am looking forward to continued growth through the rest of the year.
