Mrs. Lyman's Parent Letter

for Thursday, November 15th, 2007

Dear Kindergarten and First Grade Families,

During shared reading this week kindergarten students completed a variety of activities with the story Officer Buckle and Gloria.  First grade students learned all about the big city of New York in the story Citybook.  They are all coming along very well.  I look forward to conferences next week when we can discuss their growth up to this point in the year.  Please be sure to schedule a conference time with Mary Bergren in the office.  Conferences are Nov. 20th from 5-8 p.m. and Nov. 21st from 8-11 a.m.

I have included a December wish list with this letter.  Please look it over and if there is anything you are able to donate for all our December activities I would really appreciate it.  Thank-you in advance for your help.

Attached to this letter is your child’s Book It coupon for Pizza Hut.  We read so much throughout our day that they deserve the Pizza Hut perks.  It is also very important that you read with your child at home too.  Let them read to you and with you!  Having a variety of books in your home and reading with your child is one of the best things you can do for them!

Questions to ask your child this week are the following:

            Kindergarten

1)      Can you count backwards from 20?

First Grade

1)      Can you read the following words and use them in a sentence?  Walk, go, many, long

2)      Can you use a calculator to count up by 10’s?

I wish you all a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday filled with good food and time with family.

Sincerely,

Mrs. Lyman
