Dear Kindergarten and First Grade Families,

This week during our shared reading time the kindergarteners have been making word games and playing them.  The first graders learned to read Enzo the Wonderfish and completed a variety of activities to go along with the book.

We continued our ocean unit this week by tasting fresh water and salt water and discussing the similarities and differences between oceans and lakes.  We also read a book about dolphins and wrote about a dolphin fact.

First graders took their end-of-the-year assessment in math.  This will go home with report cards next week so you can see how they did and practice the concepts they have yet to grasp.

There will be no school on Monday due to the Memorial Day holiday.  On Tuesday we will have field day.  Field day will begin after lunch at about 12:00 and will go on throughout the afternoon.  Join us if you wish!

Questions to ask your child this week are the following:

Kindergarten and First Grade

1)      Can you tell me something about dolphins?

2)      Can you tell me the BIG difference between oceans and lakes?

I wish all of you a fun-filled and relaxing Memorial Day Weekend!

Sincerely,

Mrs. Lyman
