Dear Kindergarten and First Grade Families,

The first grade story this week was The Very Hungry Caterpillar. This gave us the opportunity to have kindergarten and first grade learn about the stages of a caterpillar’s life.  The kindergarteners read the nursery rhyme Old Mother Hubbard.  They learned about the word family –ing.

In math the kindergarteners have been practicing counting, but beginning with a high number.  They were also introduced to the dime this week.  First graders continue to practice place value and greater than, less than and equal to.

First grade families, I apologize for the delay with spelling words.  Please look for six words to come home with homework on Monday.  I will also give you a copy of the 90 word test.  The goal is for students to be able to spell the 90 words by the end of the year.

Please remember that Good Behavior Ski Day is taking place on Tuesday, February 12th.  Be sure you pack your child a lunch for that day.  Also, be sure they are dressed to spend the day outside.  They need water proof snow pants, coat, hat and mittens.  Dress them in layers!

There will be no school for students on Friday, February 15 or Monday, February 18th because this is their mid-winter break.

Stay warm and cozy over the weekend!

Sincerely,
Mrs. Lyman
