Dear Parents, In this week’s Thursday Folder your child’s graded work is enclosed. There are four grades given, they are S+=Achieved, S=Progressing Successfully, S-=Beginning to Develop and U=Experiencing Difficulty. Some papers are stamped with “The Wall of Fame.” These papers are the best of the best, because they have included correct answers, best writing, best coloring, no backward letters or numbers and the date. If your child has this stamped on one of his/her papers, then congratulate him/her on a job well done. Yesterday we walked to the Onekama Public Library. Students were able to check out three books. They are due on Wednesday, October 10th. We walk to the library every three weeks to return books and check out more. Enclosed is a wish list. As you know our school budget is becoming less and less each year. When I first began teaching ten years ago, we were given a $1000 budget for each classroom. Now we were given $150 to purchase our supplies. Of course you are not obligated to purchase, but several parents have requested a list. The wish list includes craft supplies for our three holiday parties and other necessary items. If you would like to help, then it would be greatly appreciated. I have five parent volunteers able to commit to helping our classroom weekly: Mrs. Domres, Mrs. Johnson, Mrs. Lowe, Mrs. Madsen and Mrs. Showalter. Currently I’m working on a schedule. I hope to have our volunteers start on the first week of October. Mrs. Lowe will help on Tuesday afternoons. She will help in our classroom, but she will also open our school store. Each Tuesday we will visit the school store at 2:00 p.m. It contains pens, pencils, markers, highlighter, note books, folders, etc. These items are displayed in our showcase by the Media Center. Items range from $.50 to $2.50. |
Our school offers breakfast in the morning. If your child is interested, then the cost is $1.00. Students do not need to wait in the line outside of the building; they are able to enter the building by the superintendent’s office. In years past, Mrs. Keith used to bring around a breakfast cart. This is no longer available. Students need to eat in the cafeteria now. If you are interested in receiving this parent letter electronically, then please email me at snieders@manistee.org .
