Mr. K.
explains the process of owl pellet dissection. He shows a chart with
various bones they might find.
Colin said, "I liked it. I found a head bone from a mouse. D'Angelo found one too. It was only this big. It came from a really really little mouse.." "Poor little mouse," said D'Angelo. "I found claws and other stuff too." |

Mr. K.
demonstrates how to take apart the pellet. He shows how to use the
tweezers. Students can hardly wait to touch the fur and bones. Mr. K. reminds the boys and girls to keep their hands away from their face while working. Samantha said, "I liked doing it. The tweezers are hard so I used my hand. I found a bird head and other bones and legs too." |
Morley told me, "The bones got in the owl pellet 'cause the owl caught it, ate it, and spit it out. I found bones and fur." |

Hope found bones too. She said, "I showed my dad and little sister. My dad said they were nice. My little sister can not talk. Not yet." | ||

Kelsey said she learned to use tweezers to get bones and fur. Sylvia liked

Jody told me, "Guess what? My mom thought it
was icky." Jarrett said, "I can't remember everything I found. Just lots of bones, I guess. I took them home." |

Katelyn said, "It's hard to use tweezers. I got bones. I took them home. I showed my Mom and Dad and sister. They said, 'That's nice'." |

Just in time for clean up, the repairman came to install a "touchless soap dispenser". Now everyone can have clean hands for lunch. |
Students hurried in from a snowy recess knowing they would have science next. |
