Miss Schultz Parent Letter

Dear Kindergarten and First Grade Families,

All the kids are adjusting very well and following my directions so that all of them can be successful.

Kindergarten is continuing their alphabet study and beginning math skills like counting and number writing.  First grade is completing language and reading activities that are part of our Houghton Mifflin series and they have completed the first few math lessons and started their math journals.

Please see the attached sheet to see your volunteer schedule.  If you are not on the schedule and you would like to come into our room to help, please let me know and I can add you to the schedule.

First graders have all been tested on their sight word knowledge.  The next step is to place them in their guided reading groups.  I plan to begin guided reading in the next couple weeks.  You will receive all the information you need at that time.

Homework for first graders will begin on Monday.  On Monday they will receive a homework sheet and a folder to transport their homework sheet.  Each morning they will write down the homework assignment on their sheet and bring it to you.  Your signature is required so that I know the homework was completed.

On Tuesday the 26th (next week) we will be walking to the Onekama Public Library.  We will be leaving at about 12:30 and returning by 2:00.  Please join us if you can!
