Miss Schultz's Letter Thursday, May 10th, 2007 |
Dear Kindergarten and First Grade Families,
First grade students read Something from Nothing this week and completed a variety of literacy activities. Kindergarten students read Owen and completed a variety of literacy activities. We have also been working on the Rainforest in our library corner. We will be making animals to put in the Rainforest and we will be learning more about the Rainforest too. There will be no more spelling this year for first grade. I will be giving the 90 word first grade spelling test to them again next week to evaluate their growth. Next week is the last week for homework. In addition to the 90 word spelling test I will be giving first grade a year end math assessment in order to gauge their math skill development and to inform next year teachers of things that may need to be reviewed. Our fieldtrip to Moomer’s in Traverse City is next week Thursday. I have most of the permission slips and money. If you haven’t already, please turn in $3.50 asap for your child to go on the trip. They will need a sack lunch that day. We will eat at the park in Frankfort and play on the playground. Our last trip to the public library will be next week Friday, May 18th. Jane has a craft for us to do that day! Mrs. N’s class will be going along too. Please be sure to turn in all your public library books.
