Miss Schultz's Letter Thursday, March 8, 2007 |
Dear Kindergarten and First Grade Families,
First graders learned the story There’s an alligator under my bed by Mercer Mayer. They were introduced to common and proper names. They also learned about compound words. Kindergarten learned to read the nursery rhyme, Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star. They put together s-blend words and used them to write sentences. They also played an s-blend game.
New book orders came home today. Please turn in your order with a check by next Friday, March 16th.
A March is Reading Month calendar of events came home today. Feel free to join us for any of the activities throughout the month. Our first presentation is on Bee Keeping and it takes place in the media center tomorrow at 12:30.
Animal Research Projects are due Monday. Please be sure to have your child turn in their project so we can begin helping them get their book written. I look forward to seeing what you and your child have done!
First graders competed their unit 4 checking progress and it came home today. I am pleased with how they did. Please take some time to look over the test with your child. Any skills that were incorrectly done can be practiced.
I have many students who are coming to school without an afternoon snack. Please be sure your child has their own snack for the afternoon. I don’t always have extra snacks to give.
Sincerely, Miss Schultz

Questions to ask your child this week are the following: Kindergarten 1) Can you tell me some s-blend words? How are they spelled?
First Grade 1) Can you tell me 3-5 compound words? 2) Can you tell me the difference between a proper name and a common name?
