Miss Schultz's Letter

Dear Kindergarten and First Grade Families,

Kindergarten learned their last nursery rhyme, Mistress Mary.  They made flower pots with long o word flowers and short o word flowers in them.  They will be making a cover for their nursery rhyme collection and they will be bringing them home to read.

First Grade learned to read the story, If the Dinosaurs Came Back.  They enjoyed doing a variety of activities about what could happen if we lived among the dinosaurs.

Today we walked to the Onekama Public Library with Mrs. N’s first grade class.  Carol Shiverly from the Manistee Public Library read several stories to us during our visit.  If students returned their Public Library books, then they were able to check out a new book.  These books will be due on Thursday, April 12th.

Tonight is Young Author’s night.  Your child wrote a book about the animal they chose for their animal research project.  Tonight is their chance to read that book to other students and their parents.  When you arrive here at 6:30 your child’s book can be found on one of the tables in the library.  Students with a last name beginning with the letters A-L will read on the elementary side. Last names beginning with M-Z will read on the H.S. side.  Please have your child sit on the floor.  The provided chairs are for adults.

Conferences will take place next week Wednesday, March 28th from 6-9pm.  These are conducted on a first come first serve basis.  If you are unable to come meet with me on Wednesday, please let me know.  I am more than happy to schedule another time to meet.

There will be no homework or spelling words for first graders next week. We are winding down towards Spring Break and many things are happening throughout the week that will keep us busy.

Tomorrow morning we are going to Brethren High School to attend a performance of the first act of Beauty and the Beast by Onekama, Bear Lake and Brethren students.  Please return the permission slip if you haven’t so we are ready to leave by 8:15.  McKenna Ingalls is a kindergartener in our class and she is performing in the musical.
