Fifth Grade SS Badger Trip to Wisconsin

Aboard the Badger

The Amazing Badger

The Badger trip was fun and exciting. On the Badger I had FUN! First we met in a room and a guide told us where to go and what to do. Then when she was finished talking we put our stuff down and I went to look at everything. There was an arcade, a movie theater, a quiet zone/museum, a gift shop, and a kids center. In the arcade there were fun games. I spent half of my money there. I went into the quiet zone/museum to sleep. They had really comfortable chairs. In the gift shop I bought a magazine, anklet,  a toe ring, a mood ring. The Kids center was mainly for little kids so I didn't play in there. There was also BINGO.  When we got to Manatowac, Wisconsin we went to a museum. At the museum there was a tour of a submarine, a gift shop, a boat room and a water room. I bought dinner on the boat. It was pizza and it was really good. On the deck of the boat it was really, really, really, windy. When you tried to walk it would either push you or pull you. When the trip ended we got back on the bus and started driving back. Mr. Neph and Mrs. Lyman made a quick stop at a grocery store. When they came back we all got M & M's. they were so so good. We all drove back to the school. When we got there my mom was waiting to take me home. She asked me about my trip so I told her everything. That was my trip on the Badger.

The S.S. Badger is a fun place to be. On May 24th the fifth graders from Onekama Elementary, from Onekama, MI, in the United States of America, went to the SS Badger in Ludington. We were there because we had to go on a field trip. We got there on a bus driven by Judy.

When we got on the boat everyone got to put their stuff down in a certain room. After that I went to the gift shop with my mom and a friend. In the gift shop I got a sweatshirt, necklace, hat and a charm for a charm bracelet. Then we went to the Arcade. In the arcade I spent $3.00. Then I went to the main room and started playing Bingo. Right after we sat down my mom won. She picked out a holder thing you wear around your neck. I never won in Bingo!

When we got to Manitowac we all boarded the bus and went to a museum. The museum was cool. Then I went to the submarine. After we were done we got back on the bus went to the Badger. Then on the way back I did pretty much the same things as I did before. I had a lot of fun on the field trip.

I had the most fun day of my life! I went on the Badger boat because we raised enough money for the trip. It was so much fun because Brittany H., Brittany T., Faith and Meghan made it fun because they are my friends. My best friends!  I thought the view of Lake Michigan was great. I took many pictures of my friends. And I think those pictures will turn out great. ...Selene
My whole class went on the Badger. I had so much fun that I forgot to eat. Everyone was in the arcade most of the time. I went in the gift shop. In the movie theater the movie was Happy Feet. I didn't play bingo at all. I had so much fun, and hour was like five minutes. It was like a whole ride in 20 minutes! I'd like to go on the Badger again. ...Dan The S.S. Badger is a car ferry. We took it to Wisconson to see a submarine and a museum. The museum was about ship wrecks. It took four hours there and four hours back. On the way back it was really windy on deck. There was a movie theater. In Wisconsin the was a Budwiser factory. ...Brandon

The Badger trip was fun but it took 11 hours. When we got on the boat we all went to the gift shop and the arcade and also the movie theater. Most of the time I was up on top deck. I also played some bingo and I won a t-shirt. When we got to Manatowack Wisconsin we went to a museum. At the museum we went in a submarine with 20 foot long torpedoes. The bathroom looked very complicated. The doors of the submarine were very small. So were the beds. There was also a boat room and a water room. We had a fun time at the museum, but it was time to go back to the boat. On the way back the ride got really bumpy. I went to the gift shop and got a blanket, a necklace and two t-shirts, and a hat. Then people started going crazy and we had to sit in the back of the boat for a half hour. Well I guess the trip was okay and we had fun.

On May 24th the fifth grade went on the S.S. Badger. They left at 7:00 in order to arrive at 8:00 or the boat would leave. Anyone who wasn't on the bus by 7:00 AM would be left behind. We were going on a trip to learn about ships. The badger was stationed in Ludington, Michigan so it didn't take long to get there. We waited around 15 minutes for our tickets and we were extremely anxious.

On board the ship we had fun exploring and playing. When we got to Wisconsin we visited a museum and went inside a real submarine. 80% of it is still operational. They had a periscope and it was really cool. But we could only stay an hour. Then we were back aboard the Badger.

On our way to Manitowoc, Lake Michigan was really calm. I think the first thing my mom and I did was walk out on deck to watch the boarding dock move away. After that we went into the gift store. I got a book, deck of cards, and a key chain in the shape of a cheese with "Wisconsin" on it. My Mom and I played Bingo on the ship too. It was different because we did not use chips, the chips were red slides on the cards. On of the people who called out the letters and numbers gave me a pencil even though I did not win because it was my birthday 5 days ago. Everyone sang "Happy Birthday". I won a T-Shirt.

On the way back to Michigan the water was really rough. If you walked outside you pretty much were pulled by the wind all the way over to the wall.

My mom and I had macaroni and cheese on the boat and it was really good. A lot of kids got in trouble for running so we had to stay in the one room for the last hour.  It was a fun trip.
