On May 15, 2007 the 4th grade went to Hartwick Pines. First, they went to see these really cool animals. There was a mini horse, a really big turkey, two goats, and two chickens. Then they went to go see the dirt man who studies dirt. There are different layers of dirt the farther you go down. He showed them a lot of things about dirt that most kids didn’t even know. To study dirt is very important. You could know what type of plants can grow in certain places and what type of soil plants grow best in. Then they went to a whole bunch of other stops. The one that I like the most is the birdman. He told us about different types of birds and the nests they make and live in. I had a lot of fun.
