This year the kidergarten class of Mr. K is raising baby chicks. Sylvia M. is apart of his class.

Sylvia said that Chester; Jared’s grandpa brought in the baby chicks. When Sylvia first saw the eggs she said, “ I was excited’’. Sylvia thinks there are many chicks inside of the eggs. She said that the eggs are orange, white. And green. The first thing she and her classmates had to do was to turn them over every day. They had to put X’s and O’s on the eggs to keep track of which side they flipped them on. Sylvia said that she and her friends had to flip them twice a day. She said, “an incubator is something someone invented to hatch eggs without the mother hen. The class did something called candling. Sylvia said that candling is something when they looked inside of the eggs with a flashlight. Sylvia saw veins and a little dot inside. The baby chick gets bigger every day.

It takes 21 days for the eggs to hatch. Sylvia said that if an egg was born early it was because it had too much time in the incubator. The eggs are going to hatch in 17 days. After the eggs hatch, they are going to feed and water them every day. Sylvia got to take home five to seven baby chicks home.

Sylvia said her favorite part is flipping the eggs over everyday. Mr. K’s class is having fun with the eggs.

Brittany H.

Yesterday we interviewed the kindergarten class about hatching eggs. D’Angelo was his name.

D’Angelo said that Mr. Zupin brought in the eggs. D thought they were “kinda cool”. When the question was asked what do you think is in the eggs? He said, “chicken’s of course”. D thought the colors of the eggs were brown and whitish green. D said you put X’s and O’s on the on the eggs. He said you do that so you know what side is heated and what side is not heated. You have to turn the eggs a day D said.  He said that you turn them 3 to 4 times a day.

What is an incubator? D said it is like a big heater. A flashlight or candle is used to do candling. It is to see inside the egg. The baby chick has changed since the first day and they eat the yoke. When asked, D said it takes 21 days for the eggs to hatch. He was asked if the eggs to would hatch early or late. He said some will hatch early and some won’t. D’Angelo said the class will give them away. D can not get one maybe.

D’Angelo said that what he liked about hatching eggs was seeing them.

The young kinegarten class did an interview with us about chickens.   Paul P. is a part of it.

Paul is my partner in this project.  Paul put x ís and oí s on the eggs.  He put them on there so they know  which side is which.  He said candling is when you put the egg in a light and you see inside the egg. He also said it takes 21 days to hatch.

Paul said that the eggs were awesome.  He said Mr. Zupin gave them the eggs.  What he said was in the eggs is chickens.  He said he saw the body and vains in the egg.  He will get to take one of the chickens home.

He had a lot of fun.  And heel remember that.

Chicks, Chicks and More Chicks
John S.

This year Mr. K kindergarten class raised baby chicks. DJ is a kindergarten in Mr. K class and helping raising the chicks.

Mr. Zupin gave Mr. K class the eggs. DJ really did not care about the eggs at first. DJ said” that the colors of the eggs were white, blue, green and brown”. They put X’s and O’s on the so they knew what way to turn them. Every day they have to turn the eggs every day. They have to turn them two times a day. An incubator is what keeps the eggs warm. Candling is when you get to see the chick inside the eggs and how big they got. DJ only saw a dot the first he did candling. DJ said that the chick was growing from the first day because the chick was eating the yoke.

DJ said it take the baby chick to hatch in about  21 days .DJ said that the eggs are going to hatch early or later  because they are all different. DJ said that  the eggs are going to hatch in seven days. DJ said that their class is going to take some of the eggs home. some of them are going to take them home. Bawking from Mr. Ks class
Alex B.

This year Mr.Ks class are raising chickens. Jarret is a student in Mr.Ks class.

Mr.Ks class were given these eggs by a very genorous donor by the name of Ronny C.. When first seeing the eggs Jarret felt happy. He thought that there were chicks inside the eggs. When asked what the color of the eggs were he said “Whitish and Greenish.” When they got the eggs the first thing they had to do was turn the eggs over. The class put x’s and o’s on the eggs to tell which side to turn them on. Something the class has to do every day is turn the eggs over.  The class is using a incubator to keep the eggs warm. That is what its made for. The class also has to candle the eggs. Candling is when an egg is put under a special light. It tells if there is a chick in the egg or not. When jarret was asked if he could see anything in the egg he said “Veins and a little dot.” After the first day the dots got bigger.

It takes twenty one days to hatch a chiken from an egg. When asked if he thought that some eggs would hatch early and some late jarret thought that some of them would. He was just sure of it. He also thought that the eggs were going to hatch the next day. When the chicks hatch they are going to be put in a big tank. Lastly when asked jarret belived they could take one home.

This a fun job for Mr.Ks class. Jarret is learning a lot about chickens.

In Mr.K’s kindergarten class, the student’s are hatching eggs. Having eggs hatch in their class was a big project, so the 5th grade interviewed the class.

Maggie D. was asked, who gave your class the eggs? Maggie kindly replied, Mr. Zupien. Maggie thought the eggs were small when she first saw them. Maggie said “Just hens and roosters. ” When she got asked what do you think is in the egg? When Maggie first saw the eggs the eggs were green, brown and white. When Maggie was asked, what was the first thing that you had to the chick eggs? Maggie said we had to mark the eggs with an X and O. The x and o is on the egg so the kids can turn the eggs over to keep them warm. The kindergartners have to turn the eggs over 2 or three times a day.  The incubator is the eggs are sleeping.

Candling is when you put the egg over a big bright light and you can see the chicks move around inside. When Maggie was asked, did the baby chicks change since the first day, how? Maggie said, yes it did.  His eye’s got bigger and he got huge wings. According to the Kindergartners it takes 21 days to have the eggs hatch. Maggie said the eggs would hatch late because the chicks will not hatch right on time. In other words the eggs will hatch late because the baby chicks will not be big enough.

“The eggs are going to hatch soon!” aid Maggie. The class is going to watch the chick, feed, play, and give the chicks a lot of water because the chick will most likely play in the water. Sadly Maggie will not get to take one of the eggs home. The good part is the chicks will be hatching soon, and the fifth grade had a very fun time interviewing the kids.

Inside the Egg
David

This year Mr. K’s kindergarten class are doing an egg project. Jodi H. is a student in Mr. K’s class.

The people who gave the class the eggs were Chester Gather, Ronnie Kosiboski, and Rob and Debbie. Jodi said that she was excited about the project and she thinks the chicks are hens, and she says the eggs are white, brown, and green. The first thing the class did was put an X on the fronts of the eggs and a O on the backs, you see they did that so they can tell which side it’s supposed to be on so they can turn them over twice a day. Jodi says an incubator is a heater to warm up the eggs, also Jodi says that candling is when you put a light under the egg to see what’s inside the egg. Jodi can see the embryo moving around inside the egg, also from the first day the new chick turned into an embryo.

It takes 21 days to hatch an egg. The eggs are going to hatch May 10. After the eggs hatch their going to put the chicks in an empty tank. Jodi says she might take a chick home, and what she likes most about the project is looking at the chicks from inside the egg.

The project sounded like a lot of fun. That is the end

Mr. K’s New Residents
Claire

This year Mr. K’s kindergarten class hatched chicks. Amanda B. helped with the project.

Amanda said that Jared’s mom gave her class the eggs. When Amanda first saw the eggs, she said, “is that a rock?”  Amanda said that baby chicks were inside the eggs and, as she put it, the eggs were just white. As a response to what her class had to do when the first got the eggs, she said that they had to put them in an incubator. They had to flip the eggs over once a day and put Xs and Os on the eggs so they could tell which ones were already flipped. Amanda said that the incubator turns hot to help the eggs hatch. When asked what candling was, she said that you see what’s inside the eggs to help them hatch. She got lucky and got to see a chick kick it’s leg and move inside the egg. When her class candled the eggs they saw that the chicks were growing.

Amanda said that overall chick eggs take about 21 days to hatch but their eggs would be hatching in about a week. Amanda thought that the eggs would hatch at different times. She said that it was because all of the eggs were different in their own way. After the eggs hatch Mr. K’s class will put them in a glass box and let them run around. Amanda won’t be able to take any of the baby chicks home. Amanda said that she is looking forward to “Just looking at and watching the eggs hatch.”

Amanda said that the process of hatching chicks was fun. She will never forget it.

This year, the kids in Mr. K’s kindergarten class did an interview on baby chick eggs and hatching them. Hope S. was apart of this project. It should be fun being with the little kids and getting to know them.

Mr. Gauthier, Mrs. Kosiboski, Mrs. Johnson, Rob and Debbie, and Roberts of Kaliva Hard wear dropped off some eggs at Mr. K’s classroom. When Hope first saw the egg she said “ what are we going to do with all of these eggs?” She wondered how long it would take for the eggs to hatch. Hope didn’t know if they were chicks or roosters. Hope described the chick as greenish, white, and brown. Hope and her class had to put the eggs in an incubator. Mr. K’s class put X’s and O’s on the eggs so they knew what side the chicks were on so the could flip them. Mr. K’s class has to flip the eggs everyday. Hope’s class has to flip the eggs twice a day. Hope said she knew what an incubator is. Hope said a candling is where you take a flashlight, and put the eggs over the flashlight and you can see the chicks inside of the egg, and cheak on the egg once in a while. Hope saw veins and the chick moving inside of the egg. Mr. K’s class said they changed from a day old to 13 days old. Hope said it went from a dot to a chick in just 13 days.

Hope said it took 21 days for the eggs to hatch. Hope said maybe the big ones will hatch first because they have grown better and faster. The eggs should hatch in seven days. Mr. K’s class said after the eggs hatch, they are going to make a box aquarium and watch them grow and sleep and stuff like that. Hope doesn’t get to take a chick home but Morrly and Jarett do. Hope said that the best thing about hatching eggs in their classroom was “ getting to watch them grow and turning the eggs, plus Hope wanted to see how cute and fluffy they will be when they come out of the eggs.

It would be so cool to be in Mr. K’s classroom in Kindergarten. It was fun hanging out Mr. K’s  class on the 24th of April. I thought it was a fun experience.

Blake and The Chick Eggs
Lauren

This year the students in Mr. K’s kindergarten class are hatching eggs. Mr. K has a student named Blake.

Blake didn’t know who gave the class the eggs, but he was very excited when he saw them. Blake thinks there is a little ball with veins inside the eggs. He said that the eggs were white, tan, and greenish. Blake said the first thing you do is put them in the incubator. He said that they put the X’s and O’s on the eggs so they know which side they already warmed that day. Something that he has to do is flip them over. They usually flip them over two times a day. Blake said the incubator is set to 100 degrease to warm the chick eggs. When asked what candling was he said, “ A big light that shins on the egg so you can see inside.” He said you could see a little black ball with veins sticking out. He said that the baby chick eggs have changed. Blake said that the heat of the incubator helps them change shape.

It takes 21 days to hatch the eggs. Blake said that some eggs would hatch early. He said, “ seven or eight more days until the eggs hatch!” He also said that he gets to take home a baby chicken after they hatch. Blake said his favorite part about hatching the eggs is that you get to take one home.

Blake is having an awesome time with the eggs. This is an experience he is going to remember.

21 Days With Eggs
Kaitlin

This year Mr. K’s class is doing a chicken project. Colin V. is a student in his class and he helps out a lot with the eggs.

They got all of the eggs from Jared’s uncle. When he first saw all the eggs he was so happy. Colin thinks that there is a baby chicken that is a penny sized. Colin saw that there are some white, two green, and some brown eggs. The first thing Colin had to do was to put the incubator together. Colin also had to put the X’s and the O’s on them so they could know which side they had to be heated. Everyday Colin and his class would have to turn the eggs on the other side till they hatch. Colin said “ that the incubator helps the eggs hatch”!!! Colin also said “ candling is when you put the egg on a flashlight”.  When Colin was candling he could see the veins on the little chick. Colin thinks that the chick. Colin thinks that the first day because he starts to grow his body parts.

It takes 21 days for the eggs to hatch. Colin hopes that the eggs would hatch late because then they wouldn’t be small of they were early. According to Colin the eggs will hatch after the 21 days are up. When the eggs hatch Colin’s class will take them home. Colin might bring 1 or 2 home with him. Colin likes the eggs in his classroom the most because he likes to watch them.
Colin is having a blast raising the eggs in his classroom!!! That is what Mr. K’s kindergarten class is doing this year.

Eggs, Eggs, and Eggs
William S.

This year Mr.K’s class is learning about eggs. Colin is part of his class this year and will be helping with this process.

Chester gave the eggs to class. Colin was happy when he first saw the eggs. Colin thinks there is a penny size baby chicken in the egg. The eggs are mostly white, some brown, and two green. The first thing they did with the eggs was put X’s and O’s on them and put them in the incubator. They put X’s and O’s on them to know which side has already been heated. Everyday they turn the eggs over. They have to do this once a day. The incubator is a device used to keep the eggs warm. Candling is when you put the egg on a flashlight to see the inside of the egg. Sometimes you can see the veins that the chick. Since the first day the chick started growing body parts.

It takes 21 days for the eggs to hatch. All the eggs will hatch at the same time. The eggs will all hatch when the 21 days are over. After the eggs hatch the students may take them home. Colin said, “ I might take one or two home.” Colin also said, “ The best thing I like about the eggs is watching them grow.”

Eggs Invade Mr. K’s Class!
Samantha B.

In Mr. K’s class this year, they are hatching baby chickens. Morley H., a student in Mr. K’s class, is highly involved in the project.

When questioned about how their class obtained the eggs, Morley replied, “We got the eggs from Jared’s uncle…” When he first saw the eggs, Morley couldn’t help but think that they were very cool. The eggs were pretty mysterious, but Morley remained positive that there were baby chicks inside of them. He was asked to identify the color of the eggs, and said that some were white and some green. The first thing Morley and his class had to do with the eggs was put them in the incubator and turn it on. X’s and O’s were placed on the eggs so that they knew when to turn the eggs. Every day, they have to turn the eggs two times. When questioned on the machine called an incubator, Morley easily replied that it was made to warm the eggs. Candling was a bit tricky to grasp, but Morley’s  fingers didn’t have any oil on them, and he was quick to say that candling was when you put a powerful light under the egg and then you can see inside to see how the chick is developing. Inside of the egg, Morley could see fangs beginning to develop on the chicken, If anything else was horrificly noticeable about the chicken, it was how it had grown since the first day.

“Mr. Zupin told us that the eggs take 21 days to hatch.”  Morley  stated simply. Morley put some thought into his answer to the question, ‘Do you think any of the eggs will hatch early or late?’ Morley replied that he thought some would hatch early with perfect clarity in his voice. Although he thought most of the eggs would hatch on the twenty-first day. When the eggs hatch into chickens, Mr. K and his class are going to put them into a pen and watch them. Some students will get to take a baby chick home, Morley is one of those lucky kids. The thing Morley likes most about raising the chickens is turning the eggs.

Morley  and his class are having a lot of fun raising eggs. Those eggs are in good hands.

Kindergarten Chick Eggs
Faith M.

This year Mr.K’s is experiencing the cycle of hatching eggs. Kelsey K. is helping out a lot with the eggs.

Kelsey said that Mr. Zupin helped out a lot because he gave them the eggs. Kelsey was exited when she saw the eggs. She thinks that there are baby chicks in the eggs. Also, she said that the eggs were white, and some were green. The first thing they had to do was put x and o on each side of the eggs so that they know what side to flip them too. The eggs have to be flipped three times a day. Kelsey said that an incubator is what heats up the eggs. Also, she says that candling is when you put a flashlight on top of the egg and look through the eggs. Kelsey saw baby chicks in the eggs. She said that the baby chicks got bigger each day.

Kelsey says that it takes 21 days to hatch. The eggs might hatch early or late because the eggs might be born before the others. Also they’re going to give some of the baby chicks away. Kelsey’s favorite part is that she gets to take a chick home.

Kelsey enjoyed helping out with the eggs. It was a lot of fun interviewing the kindergarten class.

Nolan and the chicks
Mitchel

Mr.K this year is hatching chicken eggs. Nolan V. is a part of the project.

Nolan said that Chester, Tammy, and Rob gave some eggs to the class. Nolan was excited when he saw the eggs. Nolan knew what was in side the eggs… chickens! The eggs Nolan said were white, pinkish brown, and green. The first thing he did was put Xs and Os on the eggs. They put Xs and Os to know what side they heated. Nolan’s class everyday has to turn them over, two times a day. Nolan says that the incubator warms the eggs. Candling Nolan says when you put the egg over a light and see the baby chick. From day one the chick got bigger because it was eating the yolk.

Nolan says it takes 21 days for the eggs to hatch. Some eggs will hatch earlier Nolan says because some eggs are bigger. In 21 days the eggs are going to hatch. Some of Nolan’s class mates will take the chicks home, but Nolan says he already has some chickens. So he won’t take any home. The thing Nolan likes most about hatching chicks is that they are so cute.

Mr.K’s class is going good with the project. The class can’t wait for the chicks to hatch.

Chickens  or  Roasters
Sami

This year the kids in Mr. K.’s kindergarten class are doing an egg project. Hope S. is on of the kids involved in this project.

Mr. Gauthier ,Mrs. Kosiboski, Mrs. Johnson, Rob and Debbie, and Robert of Kaleva Hardware donated the eggs to Hope’s class. When Hope first saw the eggs she wondered what her and the class were going to do with them, plus she wondered  how long it would take for the eggs to hatch. Hope thought that maybe chicks or roasters were inside the eggs. When Hope was asked what color the eggs were she replied,’’ They are brown, white, and one is a greenish color just like Mr.K’s shirt.  Hope then said that the first thing that they had to do with the baby chick eggs was put them in the incubator. Hope and her classmates put X’s and O’s on the eggs so they knew what side they were on so they could flip them. Flipping the eggs is something that Mr. K’s class has to do daily with the chick eggs so they can stay warm.  They flip the eggs twice a day and check on them in the morning as soon as they get to school. Hope even knows what the incubator is. When Hope was asked what candling was, she  replied’’ It’s were you take a flashlight and put the egg over it and you take a flashlight and put the egg over it and you can see the baby chick inside of the eggs and check on it” She saw veins and a little blue dot also known as the baby chick inside one of the eggs. Hope aid that the baby chicks have grown a lot from day one to day thirteen, from a dot tom almost grown.

It takes 21 days for the eggs to hatch. Hope thought that maybe the bigger eggs would hatch first because they are bigger. Hope said the eggs will hatch in about 7 more days. When Hope was asked what they were going to do with the eggs after they hatched she said, ”We’re going to put them in the aquarium  and watch them sleep and stuff”. Hope said that she wouldn’t get to keep an egg but Morally and Jarred do. She wanted to keep one though. Hope said that her favorite thing about hatching the eggs in there classroom was getting to watch them grow and flipping them, plus she wanted to see how cute and fluffy they would be when there are all grown up.

Hope said that she thought this project was a really fun one. I hope that Mr. K’s class has fun watching the eggs hatch!
