Mrs. Niederstadt's
Parent Letter

May 3, 2007

Dear Parents,

Tomorrow we will walk to the Onekama Public Library at 11:45 until 1:30ish.  Students should return their books in their book bags.  We will not check out more books, but we will enjoy story time by Ms. Ruth.  She is a local woman with a therapy dog named Molly.  Molly is a New Foundland, which is a large dog, but as calm and easy going as a teddy bear.  Ms. Ruth will read a story or two about New Foundlands and talk about her dog with the class.

We’ve finished our magazine test.  Your child’s results will come home in the next Thursday Folder.  Our new reading unit is called “Family Treasures.”  It includes stories called A Mother for Choco, Something for Nothing, and One of Three.  Over the next few weeks, you will see four books come home: Looking After Billy, Ned’s New Old Sled, A Moon for Ana Gracia and On Mother’s Lap.  These books will include new vocabulary words.

Last week I received several permission slips for Moomer’s.  Students are responsible for a fee of $3.50 to receive a guided tour and a homemade ice cream cone.  I would like all money turned in by Friday, May 11th.  Please send the money in an envelope with your child’s name on the outside of it.  Also chaperones need to include their money in their child’s envelope.  Currently I have six chaperones: Mrs. Domres, Mrs. Falk, Mrs. Harju, Mrs. Miller, Mrs. Pepera and Mrs. Somerville.
