Mrs. Niederstadt's
Parent Letter

March  29, 2007

Dear Parents,

Last night was parent-teacher conferences.  I appreciate you taking time out of your busy schedule to meet with me.  You are your child’s first and most important teacher.  Your child’s success depends on your involvement and participation in his/her education.

Next week is spring break.  We will return on Tuesday, April 10th.  When we return, there will be no homework or spelling words for the week.  On Friday we will walk to the Onekama Public Library at 12:00.

Once we return from break we will study several science units.  The focus will be on the Earth’s features.  We discussed eight features: ocean, lakes, rivers, mountains, valleys, plains, deserts, and ice caps.  The following units are rocks, vertebrates, and recycling.  This is the perfect time of the year to study science because we are able to get outside and have a change of pace.

We need to celebrate summer birthdays. It is important not to forget our summer birthday friends.  We will celebrate June birthdays the week of the April 16th.  On Tuesday we will celebrate Ndio’s birthday (June 8th), Nicholas’s on Thursday (June 13th) and Erica’s on Friday (June 26th).  The following week will be our August birthday: James's (August 8th) on Tuesday, April 24th.

During the month of April, our class is collecting non-perishable items for the local food pantry.  All of the food collected is distributed to families in our area.  Please send in your contributions throughout the month.

Warmly,

Shantel
