The Woody Guthrie Project

The students of Onekama Elementary have begun preparations for the Woody Guthrie Project. This project will culminate into a program of Guthrie songs, which will be presented to the Onekama school community on Tuesday, May 1, 2007 at 7:00 PM. It has been suggested that the students wear denim for the performance.
Musicians from the Spirit of the Woods Music Association will be accompanying the students on folk string instruments. They have graciously volunteered their time to this project and we are fortunate to have them work with our students.
The program will take place on the Onekama hillside, overlooking Portage Lake. Families will be encouraged to bring a picnic dinner, blankets, lawn chairs, and arrive one hour before the show. The Onekama Lions Club will be serving hot dogs and soda prior to the program.
The school gymnasium will be the inclement weather location. In the event of inclement weather, the picnic dinner will not take place.
Curriculum connections abound with Woody Guthrie, so please take a look at the following website: www.woodyguthrie,org/curriculum/curmission/htm Thank you for your assistance in this program.
Sincerely,
Gretchen
