Miss Schultz's Letter

Tuesday, October 13th, 2005

Dear Kindergarten Families,

Our theme this week in Kindergarten has been leaves so we have learned all about the letter Ll. At the language center students completed a letter Ll book, 2 Ll tongue twister activities and they decorated the letter L. At the writing center students learned to write the letter Ll, drew a picture of something that begins with Ll, wrote a sentence explaining their picture, practiced the letter Ll in the sand and with wikki stix and they dictated a story. At the math center students learned to write the numbers 8 and 9, completed a domino counting activity and played a counting game. At the theme art center students read listened to the story Red leaf, yellow leaf by Lois Ehlert and they made a fall leaves book. Each child read their book to their parent volunteer.

I am sending you an October book order. Please be sure to send your money to me before Friday, October 21st and I will place your orders.

Tomorrow is show and tell day so please help your child find something that begins with the letter Ll to share with our class.

I have attached a classroom wish list. If there is anything on the list that you are willing to donate we would greatly appreciate it!

Questions to ask your child this week are the following:

  1. Can you tell me 3-5 things that begin with the letter Ll?
  2. Can you tell me the sound that the letter Ll makes?
  3. What happens to the leaves during the fall season?
  4. Can you count backwards from 10?

Have a great weekend!!

Sincerely,

Miss Schultz
